Kikapus expertise needed

Kiks
I am thinking of getting a boat for the family. I want it to ski and family holidays on the Thames. Prices seem to vary greatly and I have not got a clue what I am looking at. I need a good guide for prices and running costs and training of course. I don't think you will know what is on offer in the UK but perhaps some inside information and advice on pitfalls and running costs could get me started. Are you still in the trade as it were? Can we Ski off jet skies and how good are Ribs??? I am not looking to spend a firtune but the price of a small family car might be a guide line

Thanks in advance.

I'm not into Power boats at all Zan and price of everything is much more expensive in the UK than they are in the States, but I may be able to give you some pointers tomorrow as I'm about to go to bed right now.

Just to give you an idea, a friend of mine who has a small sail boat (30 feet) and needed to change his diesel engine in Holland last year while on a trip there from the UK. It is a small engine, about 25 HP. It cost him £8,000, plus all the inconveniences of having to go back and forth which lasted couple of months.

Until then.

One more thing Zan. It is commonly know that those who put money into boats, are like throwing money into a hole.!! For me, it's my only "bad habit" so I make justifications for having my boat, because I don't smoke or do drugs.

Just want something cheep to run that will make my boys smile and somewhere for my wife to sunbath. Just bare in mind that I am not into trashy/flashy type things so a modest boat will do. I am looking into sailing though as well. The site of those boats in full sail sends a shiver up my spine every time. I would love to chug down the river in the African Queen as well.....Romantic or what. Wanted to be a marine biologist when I was a kid.....should have stuck to my dream..

check out Bayliners Zan. good for skiing, and have a some good cabin space if you're looking for anything up to 30ft. US made so a liittle cheaper. I went for Princess and ended up losing 50% of my money when i sold it.

They've got their dealership up in Cumbria
