TheMicrophone, I thought I would bring these figures to the attention of people generally as I am sure most of us do not realize what such vast sums of money represent.

By making comparisons, we can appreciate the enormous costs (underwritten by the people) imposed upon us all when our governments embark on such unlawful enterprises.

I think we should be allowed to claim the money back when it is proven to have been so wasted, don't you agree ?. :)

Blair and his robbing legions have fleeced us in increasing amounts for 10 years. yet still the fools vote for them! All i know now is that he aint getting his hand on my tax pound now to spend on a war he lied to us about.

My biggest concern is the soldiers (and innocents) who are being killed and maimed in its pursuit.

If Saddam HAD been about to launch an attack on us then I would be the first to have said 'take him out' before he does. The costs would have been irrelevant. As he wasnt we should all get our 65$ back. Can I be first?

For you perhaps. :)

Flilitsa, if the money spent WAS distributed to the people who needed it, 'good cheer' would result I'm sure.

So money is an inherent barrier to good cheer, Eliko?

Let me rephrase the question: What is your purpose for posting "the facts"? Oh, and did you do the math yourself??? :)

My purpose is quite clearly stated above, your final question is irrelevant. :)

It was relevant when I hit the "Submit" button as your response to The Microphone didn't exist at that time. :) Now I'm left wondering why you refused to address me since I'm the one who asked the question ... hmmm.

Filitsa, my apologies for not answering you directly, I merely thought that my response to The Microphone covered your questions.

The reason I raised the thread is as stated to (him ?), I do feel that people do not generally comprehend the enormous amounts of money spent by our governments, we are not able to imagine the vast figures involved since we do not deal in them ourselves.

By illustrating the fact that the worlds population could receive $65 per head, it becomes easier to see just how much the cost IS (so far) to the general population of one nation. :)

I'm with Eliko on this.

Imagine if the US had spent that amount of money on its own domestic issues. Now that would have brought damn good cheer.

Homeless, ghettos, crime fighting, could have been done away with with that cash.

But hey no, lets invest it in our long term oil programme. Take out Saddam and take his fields under the disguise that we are restoring democracy to iraq.

No need to listen to Filitsa, she is just blinded by the american bullshit dealt out everyday to them

Most americams couldn't tell you where the hell Iqaq is on a map never mind hearing about it.

Way to go Eliko
