Thanks to you too Denizaksulu,it is comforting to know that there are really nice people on this forum and that the others are in the minority.xx
There are just as many Brits as Cypriots jumping on the rip off bandwagon and a lot of poor europeans coming over,no work,no money,no food and are turning to crime just to live! Borders ought to be closed to all who cannot support themselves or have arranged jobs before coming.I am proud to say that we got nothing from Cypriot tax payers (unlike our country)and paid our own way start to finish. On the whole it was a positive experience thanks to our lovely Cypriot neighbours Angelos and Angela ,their parents and extended family who welcomed us and shared hospitality and language with us.

I have run my own business in the UK for more than 35 years but would not start a business in Cyprus ,having once done so and lived to regret it. The Cypriot businessman is amongst the shrewdest business people in the world. Too shrewd on occasions for my liking.

It's much easier to rip off the Brits in their own country eh ?, there's more of 'em.

You chose the other route and became a 'turncoat', no harm in that either really (for a skitterer), I often had occasion to order my 'Provo Sergeant' to clap the likes of you in the guard-house for their own protection, they just couldn't cut the mustard you see.

Advantage of course, (in your case, being a fence sitter), whatever the outcome of the problems here, you will be able to tearfully embrace everyone won't you?, not a bad plan for an ignorant old fool I reckon.

We are not perfect, but we are hard working and honest and came to Cyprus with a dream. My husband was promised work by the developer(only I am retired) and surprise surprise it was nowhere to be seen once he had our money! I ended up cleaning other ex pats places just to buy food to make our savings go further. My husband being a proud man could not bear to see me cleaning in 40Degrees (I have asthma) and put his foot down and insisted we return to the uk!So do'nt judge me as being stupid,I was illadvised to trust people and paid the price!!

Beverley

Thanks for insinuating i'm an "arsehole" just for pointing out the bleedin obvious, your story is a lie. You said WE bought to retire to, so i thought WE were retired. Also, who in their right mind would accept a job in another country, pack up and move based on the good word of a developer, and not be in receipt a full written offer of employment / contract. You also "claim" that your children and 6 others couldn't find flights for less than 700 - what crap. I said it was not an attack on you and i just wanted to see if you could substantiate what you had said as it would be a big issue but clearly you’re just talking crap.

One of the reasons i responded was that if you could prove / demonstrate that your flights were so expensive then i would have offered help to get the flight you want at the price you want. Before you offer to help someone with a problem, you have to make sure they have one. Clearly you have not.

For the record I help a lot of friends and family with planning holidays. As an example, I am paying £680 each for a week all inc at ledra beach with bham flights on 15th sept (becasue I can only travel that day otherwise it would have been cheaper) with Thomson fly. Included in the price is a sea view room and premier return seats on the flight. For your info bev, I have known many people stay here and the drinks are NOT watered down as you suggest in your post and all said, it’s cheaper than your flight!

Finally bev, for someone who is retired i’m surprised you have reacted in such a petty childish way to someone questioning you. I imagine being nice in you house means says yes bev no bev 3 backs full bev.

Best Regards

Mr D "Arse Hole" James
