20 ft container

Postby k'n'G » Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:52 pm

dear all - sorry more questions
We are planning to get a 20ft container, we want to get it delivered to our apartment and plan to unload it ourselves is this feasible
we understand that you get 3 hours in which to do this is this correct,
also we will have a Motor Bike in the container does this have to come out for customs at the docks to be assessed for excise duty or do you take it somewhere after unloading at our home. Do they drop the container on the road at ground level or is it still on the trailer ?
If you have any experience of these concerns we would really appreciate your advice - many thanks in advance

Ask the shipping agent. They must be able to answer these questions. Most likely they'll leave the container outside your house and collect it later.

Can't help with the bike but I'm sure they'll tell you.

Hi
Three hours unloading is correct, you pay for any longer but it takes a lot less time to unload a container than it does to load it.

Can't help with the bike

The container will stay on the trailer and the driver will usually help with unloading but as soon as your three hours are up the driver and container will be going.

At the customs office in Limassol you will find many helpful 'agents' their job is to 'ease' the passage of your container through customs clearance. their help is useful but not cheap
ps. enlist the help of friends ane neighbours to unload the container and buy them a good meal afterwards, it will be a lot cheaper than hiring 'help' from the port.

Good luck
MM

Iv'e been given a quote by a container company to ship UK to Paphos, door to door, will there be any landing/port fees when it arrives in Limassol and if so roughly how much?

The price that I've been quoted for a 20' container is £1996 GBP + Vat.

andrews shipping in palmers green £1000 for a 20ft container, or you can buy one for £800.00 from them and have them ship it over. you can then sell it for a profit, had an offer of 1000 cy£ for it

Hi Thanks very much for the prompt reply, was the £1000 plus any other fees? seems very cheap compared to what I've seen recently.
I've located their website so I'll give them a call on Monday.

Hi

If its a door to door price then you do not pay anymore ISH...

Check with the company 1st - or phone Peter Morton for another quote...
