I wonder when ENOSIS was sought?????

Enosis was always sought by the Cypriots Zan until 1960.

you are wrong my dear friend.
even now on the walls u can see EOKA,ENOS?S slogans.pls don't tell me that after 1960 we could not see. i can prove it for u.

You're wrong my friend. A few kids might have written some graffiti because of their football team ideals....what would be the point. We have ENosis with Greece now as we speak. We are part of the same European Union.

If Someone came up on tv and said i support enosis and am starting a political party he would get as much votes as Rauf running for president over here.

DT dear friend,
i saw those writings after 1974.still some writings are exsisting on the greek cypriots houses in the north cyprus.
thats why i told u that they were their after 1960.
i am not going to prove anything to u .but pls give correct information.we are still living in this planet.we have to tell truth by hiding something it will not help at all.

HAlil, if you read my first post regarding this i say the "Cypriots stopped seeking enosis after 1960. I don't consider a few hundred mercenary traitors in 74 that wanted enosis as representing the entire island of cyprus.

Your mindset of thinking that we here in cyprus seek enosis is backward and needs to get updated. Enosis is a past objective of the GC's. It is ridiculous to even think about anything like that now. We are a legitimate, internationally recognised government and proud member of the EUropean Union. Enosis and Taksim is solely reserved for 4-5 geriatric GC's and your entire administration, strategy and policies.

Is that the same as having your cake and eating it??? How can you still want something that you have already got??

I'm not getting you mate. I'm trying to explain to halil that wanting enosis is impossible. There already is a form of enosis within the EU. We are united to France, Denmark and Greece amongst others....what cake? Is it chocolate? You got me hungry now.

Your initial statement was "Enosis was always sought by the Cypriots Zan until 1960." What happened between 1960 and you joining the EU is what Halil is asking. You made it seem as if it stopped in 1960 when it clearly didn't. Lets not get into the man on the street and what those in power wanted. We all know they are two different things.

Again let me refer you to my choice of words of Cypriots...Makarios may have had his dream trodden on but he was way too ambitious to relinquish power to Greece now that he became president. SOemthings said were for the ears of Greece and nothing more I believe. Running a country however with a complicated constitutional setup as the 1960 constituion envisaged was difficult for a country of political rookies.

One thing that never gets discussed here was what where the problems that the govt encountered to force makarios to come in with the amendments? Why were taxes not collected and the state was coming to a standstill? WHy could municipalities not function anymore? At some point youa s TC's need to take a clear look back at this without any provoking or challenging from any GC's and ask yourselves how was the state to overcome these issues?

Enosis was stopped dead in 1960...Taksim on the other hand...well we live that every day now don;t we?

Well Deniz...i said enosis and taksim is reserved for your entire administration....now if you have an administartion saying they run a "trnc" (i know you like inverted commas) then obviously they are promoters of taksim....

I don;t undertsand how you can run a separatist state in cyprus and not follow the beliefs of taksim!

Are you joking. ENOSIS was well and thriving well up to 74 at least.

The anti-Turkish and pro-Enosis demonstrations held at Limassol by Greek secondary school students on 25 April, 1974, and the statement put out by them as published the next day in 'Agon -a Greek daily (mouthpiece of Mr. Glafcos Clerides' Unified Party)- illustrates the attitude of the Greek Cypriot youth. This is what the students' statements said about the Turks: "Rightists, leftists, neutrals, independents!... You must dash forward and cry out loud: Long live everlasting Greece!... There is no place for Turks in Hellenic Cyprus!... They should be thrown out!... Istanbul, Thrace, Izmir, Cyprus, all of them are ours..

Well my friend DT (if I may) you would be a poor 'bargainer' in a levantine market'. Raise the stakes and then compromise.

DA
You are right there Humanist. It was not out of choice but unfortunately the TCs were forced into the corner by the events of '63 and that is what happens. It would not have been my first choice. My first choice was Cyprus for Cypriots, but look at the mess you made. You wanted your Enosis the TCs said OXI and you lost part of the Island. Obviously the TC's do not want your kind of Hellenism in Cyprus. If you do you can have it in the south. If you give Hellenism up, maybe there is some hope for those who want Cyprus for the Cypriots.
Regards
DA

DA & T_C firstly you make me smile because you both came on the forum saying you wanted unification and keep an open mind and thus far you have failed to acknowledge the part T_C & Turkey have played in the situation of today, but that is okay if you wish to maintain status quo and fail to be visionaries of a country you may love or not love that is entirely your choice.

Secondly as the events of 63 cornered the T-C's the events of 74 cornered the G-C's. The question is do you want a solution or not? I maintain the answert to your question some want to Turkify Cypreus. To this end it is hypocrytical to believe that its okay for Cyprus to be Turkified and hot allow Hellenism to take over. PERSONALLY I BELIEVE BOTH SUCK.

Thirdly I was too young to know what ENOSIS was so please do not make statements such as "you" refering to me. I did not then and do not now. You have become a blaming person just like the rest along with T-C your coments about you want Hellenism keep it in the south, does not enable you to take responsibility for the Turkification of the North. If you look what is happenning the north is overwhelmingly more Turkified than the so called Hellenic south. Most Cypriots on this forum argue for Turkification of the North and uniofication of both north and south.

From your post I conclude that we have not moved in 33 years. Blame and no suggestions for resolution and secondly you keep talking about choice. I wish to say that TC's in Cyprus 2007 have more choice than GC's do. You can move to the sotuh and claim all of your properties get employent and health. I doubt that GC"s are afforded the same choice. On a larger level you can move back to the RoC under 1960's constitution as a permanent solution or as temporary one till a final lasting solution is found.

Or you can choose to be like the many TC's on this forum who have accepted a victim roile and are playing on it. Or you may choose to become a visionary of unifiying your people, that is if you consider GC's as your people. If the answer to that is NO then am sorry to say that Cyprus are doomed. Unless we see all of us as Cypriot not Greek Not Turkish then we will not have solution and if that is the case then I suggest lets keep it as is excactly as is. Partition and economic embargo. Sounds fair to me.

Please try to saty away from saying to you wanted enoiss because I dd not want enosis and my mother lsot her brother because of it.

Turkey has no right to dictate to the RoC how to use her waters, their war threats are barbarians and like I said to you before, I have no respect for Turkey end of story. You don't want unification so don't stir the pot. You specifically do not want unification Zan, so leave me alone.

I respect all Cypriots and there are some on this forum who speak Turkish also and I hold outmost respect for them. Unfortunately you have chosen to side with Barbarian Turks that is fine. also. Do Not expect me to agree with violation of human rights, exploitation of propoerty and enial of ones country.
