I wonder when ENOSIS was sought?????

Enosis was always sought by the Cypriots Zan until 1960.

EOKA = The organization created to fight against the colonialists and achieve union with Greece, a perfectly legitimate cause that was the desire of the great majority of the Cypriot people.

TMT = The organization created to fight against Greek Cypriots and to achieve the partition of Cyprus, something which of course has never been the legitimate right of anybody, but a crime involving the ethnic cleansing of 100s of thousands of people.

We fought against the colonialists for nothing more than our rights. The conflict between GCs and TCs started when TCs turned against us simply because they didn't like the perfectly legitimate desires of the great majority of the Cypriot people. Strange that for them 3 centuries under the Ottomans, which was against the desires of the Cypriot people, was not a problem, but union with Greece was

deniz, I was replying to the post by T_C and not yours. However when you say that "TCs were forced into the corner by the events of '63", aren't you blaming the GCs exclusively for those events?
Maybe your personal choice was not partition, just like the personal choice of many GCs at the time was not enosis. However partition was the choice of your leaders and Turkey, and they (along with their GC counterparts) are equally responsible for the events of 63.

By the way, can you turn on "bbcode" in your posts? It is very hard to read them when you quote others without it.

Now , back to the events of '63. Have I anywhere in my post I put blame on any side. That would only trigger the grammaphone response. If the choice of most of the Cyprus population was not Enosis, why did not these people shut the Enosis criers up. Why did not anyone tell President Makarios that no one wanted Enosis. Yet was it you yourself who is talking about the God given right to declare for Enosis. It could be someone else but the idea is there!

Yes, union with Greece was our legitimate right, not a "God given" one, but the right of the population of this island to democratically take decisions about its own destiny, instead of the British, Turkish or any other invadors. Do you disagree with this?

One thing is to ask from us to accept what we were forced to sign (and you should do that as well) and another thing to tell us that we should like it also.

Of course a truly independent Cyprus can be something that not only we accept, but we like as well. But for that to happen Cyprus should become a modern democratic country like all the rest, without racist discriminations and human rights violations.

To make a point everybody "exagerates" to some extent. My exagerations are a drop in the ocean when compared with your figures.

Are you calling TC's invaders? Cant you call TCs Cypriots instead? Lots of enlightened GCs call us brothers, brethren, of same blood/genetical stock or whatever. Some like you call us invaders. All these arguments do not help solve the cyprob. You (plural) can not even make up your minds over your own ethnicity, never mind ours. What hope have we got?

You're wrong my friend. A few kids might have written some graffiti because of their football team ideals....what would be the point. We have ENosis with Greece now as we speak. We are part of the same European Union.

If Someone came up on tv and said i support enosis and am starting a political party he would get as much votes as Rauf running for president over here.

When did you go into the EU again.... I think there was quite a big gap between wasn't there.

Unfortunately Denis, TCs don't want to be just Cypriots. They want to act like the Ottoman invadors and continue to impose their will on the great majority of the Cypriot people, against our democratic wishes and our human rights.
