Makarios legacy

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

turkish_cypriot,

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a bellend exactly.

That's a really interesting rendition of the word cypriot, by the way.

Bellend = slang for penis/dick... a crude joke on my behalf in response to Chimera :D

Kifeas wrote:PS: A correction to Filitsa's above comment, "Hellenism" does not refer to the ideals of the Hellenistic period! Hellenic ideals pre-existed the Hellenistic period, which begun with Alexander and his successor’s conquers. They are mainly (but not exclusively) connected with Pericles’ Athenian Golden Age period.

And correct you are, Kifeas. They were born of the Golden Age - got a little sloppy with facts while attempting to emphasize the universality of Hellenic ideals - and took off with Alexander.

Viewpoint, wake up there is no hidden agenda with regards to Hellenism and Cyprus.

It is only Turkey that is recalcitrant to the logic of Hellenism. But we live in hope that they will slowly, eventually come round to its civilising message.

But I can see now why it has been such a slow process for Turks to embrace the ideals of Hellenism. You have only just got used to brandishing the word "Democracy" about as though that will rub out all the evil you have inflicted.

May I refer you to Kifeas's easy introduction to Hellenism. Please peruse and learn. 8)

You Hellenics are used to saying one thing and doing totally the opposite if you had half a brain you might be considered a danger.

Hmmm; so you say just HALF a brain could be dangerous to Turks!

You overestimate yourself!

Even the single neuron of an annelid could take you on.

Is the Hellenism you all talk about the same Hellenism Greece tried to spread in Asia Minor beginning with the landing of the Greek troops in Izmir - 1919? You got a bloody nose then and you would get another one again, so better forget about it. Why dont you keep it simply Cyprus for the Cypriots?

Perhaps because some want to Turkify it, DA ......... change needs to occur from both sides of the divide.
