RichardB,

Yes I believe I had this dish in a Turkish restaurant in London which at the time generally catered for the local Turkish community & various trendy middle class indigenous locals who were going "ethnic" & multicultural.

Now gone upmarket as clientelle became more & more indigenous & middle class. Sadly lost most of its authenticity: But thats progress & marketing I guess.

oh yes it was rather tasty.

Regards

Hi RichardB,

What's throwing me off, is the "wine vinegar".??? I don't think TC's put vinegar into any of their cooking, except into salads.

I could be wrong.!

In any case, it's rabbit and Onion stew................without the wine vinegar.

Mr Deniz, when my mother cooked in this dish we hadn't heard of alzheimers. This was many moons ago & I also recall that the most recent time this was cooked for me it was indeed in an earthenware pot.

However, maybe we should now go back to the original, or as mamma used to cook, method & laugh in the face of danger & polotical correctness. After all this should establish your real man credentials!!!!

I am afraid that in the south of Cyprus they did use some sort of vinegar with this dish. Thats why I never ate it. I love rabbit though. Roasted with Bulgur pilav and....wait for it....Yogurt.

Fair comment Nick T, but earthenware dishes were invented before Aluminium. I suggest that earthenware is more original. May be as a kid you broke all your mothers pots so she had to use aluminium.   It was only friendly advice for future cooking.

Of course, earthenware preceded aluminium utensils, & as such is more original. However, I was many things as a kid, but never clumsy LOL. My suggestion should be filed along with anything found within the real man guide book......."Real men don't eat quiche"

Oh DA, what do the GC's know...cooking with vinegar ????.

I love vinegar and on occasions when making salad, I take a swallow right out of the vinegar bottle, but have never used it in cooking any meal.

When we have guess here at home in Switzerland, I tend to cook Cypriot food 9 out of 10 times for our friends, and I would put the yogurt on the table, and our friends who were not use to this kind of cooking, always wondered what they should do with the yogurt.
