If we go on a car journey and take bottled water we always seem to become thirstier the more of the bottled water we dring, is there something in the water ie salt?

No salt. None of the Cyprus waters have high levels of dissolved solids, roughly the same as tap water. Salt is sodium chloride. There will be some sodium cations but extremely little in the way of chloride anions. Most of anions will be bicarbonates.

Salt is not a permitted additive because it could be problematic for those with high blood pressure.

Sitting in a hot car with or without aircon will dehydrate the passengers as they will perspire more. It is therefore natural to wish to drink more to offset dehydration. It will make no difference whether it be bottled water or bottles of tap water.
