Lack of Respect for Makarios III

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Lack of Respect for Makarios III

Postby MTN » Fri Aug 03, 2007 5:30 pm

As a 2nd generation American Cypriot I was shocked to witness the sort of disrespect that I encountered when doing a search of Makarios - our fiorst ever president. It saddens me to see total disrespect that appears on various blogsites including: http://stravara.blogspot.com/2007/08/zei-zh.html

I agree that freedom of speech is very important, even in a small place like Cyprus. But there should be a limit.

I am still too upset to visit the site and will wait until I calm down before commenting to these bloggers.

Is it too much to ask of people to at least respect the memory of a man who died for his country?

Thank you,

Mike :(

He died of a heart attack- not for his country. He wanted/tried to have his country, Republic of Cyprus, annexed to Greece although he signed international agreements in 1959-60 as the GC community leader and swore as her President not to do this. He invited the Greek Army to Cyprus by the thousands (later openly expressing his "apology" to the whole world on his speech at the U.N. about this) who carried out murders to annihilate the TC comunity. He was a criminal that promoted and orchestrated the murders, enclaving, ousting and suffering of the TC community. It is unacceptable to say the least for the GC community to have memorials after him and to unashamedly declare that they are still in his path. God forgive him for what he has to done to my people, beacuse I know friends and relatives of many murdered for his lunatic acts that never will.

MTN, the lag of respect is shown by the kind of criminals like Murataga and other Turks who do not like anybody who fights for justice and for the rights of the Cypriot people.

These are the same people who are trying with various means for 5 centuries already to Turkify our island and they hate anything Greek or Christian.

The Turks have killed 10s of thousands of Cypriots and ethnically cleansed 100s of thousands, and then they complain because we dared to defend our island from their aggression and their efforts to impose on us their will.

The man of numbers seems to have changed his tack..    Look out Murataga, I think he is gunning for you...

The first president of our island worked for only one part of his community and that was the Greek part. We just got in the way and were nearly wiped out. He should have followed the constitution that he signed and swore to abide by. He did not and through deception, murder and treachery he screwed things up, to put it bluntly....

You were nearly wiped out? Really?

It is very funny that you have no arguments and you rely only on lies.

The fact is that from 1960 until 1974 the number of TCs had increased in both absolute numbers and as a percentage of the total population. So take your lies elsewhere.

The ones that are making an effort to wipe out not only the people, but the culture and history of this island, are the Turks. They occupied the north part of our country, ethnically cleansed the majority of the population, replaced them with foreign settlers, destroyed our churches, changed the names of our towns and villages etc. That is what wiping out means, and that is what the barbarian invadors are doing to our island.

Here is some Makarios "justice" and "rights of the Cypriot people" for you (from speech at Panayia on 4 September 1962):

"Until this small Turkish community that forms part of the Turkish race which has been the terrible enemy of Hellenism is expelled, the duty to the heroes of EOKA cannot be considered as terminated."

Ottomans gave you autonomy, unmatched in the history of your enslaved past in Cyprus. If they wanted to there would not have been a single Greek speaking individual on the island living today. Read a book or two for a change.

We don`t hate anything Greek and/or Christian. However, we will never accept the will of the other community imposed/enforced upon us and our security be jeapordized ever again.

Your lies have been smashed to the ground on numerous occasions about this yet you have no shame and repeat them as you see any opportunity. For those interested please refer to:

Mate, all you have is Turkish propaganda crap, many of which are created by the Turkish imagination, like the one you wrote above claiming that it came from Makarios.

As far as if you "smashed" me with your lame arguments that can convince only elementary school children, I let the world to decide about it. In fact everybody has already decided that it is not convinced by your lies, which is why they do not recognize your pseudo state and condemn your illegalities.

Murataga, you Turks are very good in killing and stealing the land of others. However everybody knows what you guys are all about. The Armenians know, the Kurds know, the Cypriots know, the Greeks know, and everybody else that had suffered under the Turks knows. Even those that barely escaped from you know very well. Like the Austrians for example, who do not want to see Turks in EU even with binoculars.

So stop trying to present the Cypriots as the aggressors and the Turks as the victims. You are just making everybody laugh with such lame arguments. Better stick to poems like your BelloTurko friend:

İ am Bello Turco and İ am proud.
İ come from the steps of Outer Mongolia with
slanted eye and curved sword.

İ fight for thousands of years and slaughter and butcher.
