Casualties of war and division

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Even if we assume and your numbers are right, and it was 3000 + 1600 missing which are presumably dead = 4600 instead of 6000, does that make the scale of your atrocities less?

The same with the refugees. Would it make your invasion any less barbaric if instead of 200.000, the exact figure is 162.000?

The same, by the way, could be said about your numbers. In the numbers you give about the TC casulties you include people that were murdered by your own TMT, and even people that were killed in accidents, but it suited you to add them as your victims of the intercomunal conflict.

It may not but when you break the numbers down still and show who actually killed whom then you will be able to show the turmoil you GCs were in and how you killed each other in the period of 74 and why so many Gcs thanked god for the Turkish intervention. You not only distort numbers for your gain but you distort history and why we are in the situation we are in. As I said before...Head Greek propagandist...Only know he has his tail between his legs.

I do not understand why it is so important if there were 3,000, 4,600, or 6,000 dead or whether the refugee numbers was 162,000 or 200,000. The fact is that every single dead person left behind a family and every refugee left behind his livelihood.

The numbers may indeed look low if compared to other conflicts, however, in order to understand the scale of the distraction one has to compare this with a bigger country, say UK.

for example:

4,500 dead represented 1% of the population. If we translate this to the equivalent of the UK population (60 million) this would have meant 600,000 dead.

1,500 missing in RoC ----> 200,000 missing in UK

160,000 refugees in RoC -----> 23,000,000 regugees in the UK

The above should give you an inside on the scale of the distruction and pain that the events of 1974 caused to a small society. Bare in mind that I have not even included the TC casualties and displaced people in those figures.

What are you talking about? Yes, in 1974 during the coup GCs killed each other. But why would any GC be thankful for the Turkish invasion which not only killed much more GCs, but it also ethnically cleansed 100s of thousands, stole our land, and is lasting for 33 years?

I think you are the one who is trying to distort history.

This arguement of the more you kill the more guilty you are is always put forward by Piratis, maybe he should explain to everyone his reasoning and correlation behind his mentality.

Perhaps in the same way what you think, in that any minority in any country will be assimilated by the majority because of their numerical numbers.

Perhaps you should explain to everyone your reasoning and correlation behind your mentality.

I personally do not agree with, the more killings one does over the other, the more guilty they are. If there were any war crimes charges to be brought against to those who are responsible for these killings, they would all be swinging from the same tree equally.

Viewpoint, what I always say is that we should leave the past behind, end all illegalities in Cyprus, forgive each other and move ahead with a normal democratic country in Cyprus like all the other in EU.

The "blame game" is always started by you, since you are trying to use a selective and distorted version of history in order to excuse your insistance on illegalities and your demands for keeping Cypriots separated based on their ethnic background.

Apparently though you want to start the "blame game" but when all the facts are presented you don't like it.

So, it is not just that the Turks killed more (WAY more) GCs, it is also the fact that the Turks started the whole conflict, that they are at least as responsible for the late 50s early 60s conflicts, and that they continue with illegalities and crimes today and for the last 33 years.

So yes, if you look history as a whole and not only the events that suit you, it is very clear that Turks have the biggest share of guilt for the problems of Cyprus.

Still, we are willing to forgive you for that, as long as you stop being hostile against us, give us back our land and our rights, so we can finally have peace on this island.

Unfortunately, instead of doing the same as well, you take those few events that suit you, you exaggerate them by a factor of 100 while at the same time diminishing the harm you have done to us, all in an effort to excuse yet more crimes and illegalities against us.

So no, it is not just the amount of dead. Thats just one of the factors. The others being that the Turks are the ones who started it, that the Turks are the ones who oppressed us for a MUCH longer time, and that the Turks are the ones who without any regrets they continue with crimes and illegalities today and for the last 3+ decades.

So my suggestion to you is to stop playing the "blame game" with me, because no matter how many exaggerations and lies you say, thats a game you are going to loose since the truth is so obvious and the events so many and known, that your propaganda is worthless.

How about forgiving each other for the past, stop the illegalities and the suffering of the people today, and finally have in Cyprus a normal country?

I know thats not what you want, since you want to divide Cyprus, and dividing its people by maintaining and increasing the hate between them is part of your policy. However I show all the good will in case you change one day. But until that happens be sure that I will not allow your distorted version of history and your lame excuses for occupying Cyprus to pass.

As determined as you are to find out personal information so I'm committed to not revealing it. Why ? Because in my view it is more likely to be a fuel for prejudice than a guide to healthy debate. Plus, I loathe nationalism.

Copperline why prejudice? I already knew you were either TC or mainland Turk. Reading your posts I now know which of the two you are, and believe me, i respect you the same.

My dear joker of a card deck, the “illegal regime” which you are referring to, is the “regime” of which about 70,000 TCs (way more than half the TC population) have applied and obtained passports and ID cards from, since 2003! Are they also outlaws, for applying to and using an “illegal regime’s” citizenship documents?

I hope you also realised by now what a laughing stock of the forum you have become!

Like I said before the population of Gcs in 1974 was about 420,000 so knowing the Occupied north is 37% then they should be around 155,400 IF THE POPULATION DISTRIBUTION WAS EVEN.

However even the last chicken in Cyprus knows the Northern occupied part was MUCH MORE desnily populated.
Just estimating the correct number for Gc refugees seems to me about 180,000.

@murataga

All the links you gave are just home pages and there is nothing there compared to what you wrote. Give us the exact links for the quotes you put down to check ourselves.
