Too many foreigners in Cyprus

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Bananiot » Fri Aug 03, 2007 10:55 am

The UK accommodated and nurtured about 300 000 Cypriots many of whom were given a new lease of life, coming from really poor backgrounds. The UK educated many Cypriots, mostly on grants paid by the British taxpayer. As I said many times however, our favourite pastime in Cyp is to always blame the others for our shortcomings. With such brains we are at liability of repeating all the grave mistakes of the past.

Eliko. Thank you for your welcome both to the boards and Cyprus

Having read a number of your posts on this forum I would say you are at the very least anti English(if not racist)and this becomes apparent when you talk of "chicks coming home to roost" with obvious delight. What I would ask you though is; At what stage in history were Bulgaria, Poland Russia, Romania and other former eastern block countries under British rule?....Never? and yet these are the "chicks" now coming to Britain.(now in as great a number as the Asians) Could I ask have you ever visited the UK or even met someone from there? Because it seems to me you have gained your dislike of us from books and news reports.[/quote]

Edman, thank you for your response and may I first of all assure you that I am not particularly 'anti British' as far as the general population are concerned, I do however object most strongly to those who advertise their 'Britishness' by adopting attitudes of superiority in foreign lands.

I refer to the 'Flag waving' mentality of those who feel that they are entitled to behave in any manner they see fit, because they are British.

The vast majority of them cannot even give a fair description of their own country's flag, (check it out for yourself).

Unfortunately, the ordinary citizens have to bear the brunt of criticism on account of the aforementioned.

My main grievances are directed at the politicians that have and do govern the country, they have been proven to be capable of great deceptions for many years, (certainly during my own lifetime), we all KNOW of the underhandedness of them and the result of such, politics is a dirty business, it shouldn't be, we shouldn't have to stand mute and accept all the lies, deceit and immorality that festers in the halls of power, we are told that our 'vote' can make a difference yet we see evidence of gerrymandering throughout the world.

The situation NOW is such that none of us can be sure of what is going on in the world, people are schooled (by the politicians) to harbour hatred for each other, that way they can be sure of their own positions and effectively impose their hidden agendas on all of us (at the expense of our own freedoms).

Britain did not have to 'RULE' the nations you highlight, they were clever enough in the past to INFLUENCE them, the position now is that those nations have become aware of that fact, have woken up and are now cashing in on the promises made to them. (possibly).

You ask if I have ever LIVED in Britain?, I would answer that by saying I suffered there for many years with the rest of the down-trodden population, my family history and military background would be of great interest to you I'm sure, I do not feel that it would be appropriate to discuss such matters as they are of no consequence in this exchange.

I am a widely travelled man, I have assisted many helpless victims of aggression in several areas of the world, I have respect for the cultures and traditions of every country I have ever visited and number a variety of different races among my closest friends, (even British).

Finally, I would like to prove to you that it would be an impossibility for me to be a 'Racist', since I am the product of those very issues myself.

Best wishes to you Edman, I hope you can understand where I am coming from a little better now. :)

Chrisdemetriou, I take it that as you do not live in Cyprus as you said that you were on holiday here? So in actual fact YOU are also a foreigner living in another country are you? Then you visit Cyprus and complain about foreigners??? As for "Turks" lounging around everywhere, I think you made this up - I have crossed at Ledra Palace many times and have NEVER come across this. This is a very similar post to one made by someone last year who said that Kyrenia was FULL of headscarved women begging in the streets - total and utter rubbish. This is a racist post from a hypocrite in my opinion.

I was born in Cyprus, greek cypriot, now living in England. So yes i am a foreigner living in England, but I respect how the English live, and like many other foreigners from other countries, behave normally, and go about life like any other person.

People from poorer countries are coming to Cyprus, expecting the country to work miracles for them. Once they realise they have to actually work, they lounge around begging.

Cyprus is light years ahead of the Turks. For starts we aren't barbarians, and use knives daily. In england, Turks, are using knives weekly to settle arguments, and most occur outside there fish and chip shops.

If people from other countries were to come to Cyprus, and respect how every lives and try to settle in there wouldn't be a problem, but they just sit around looking for opportunities to steal. The immigrants from Western Europe, are fine and most try to make an honest living, unlike people from the likes of Albania, Macedonia, and so on.

I also don't think that the security on the border-line is very good, as some have claimed that Turks can't cross into the south, but they do, and are moving over for a better way of life.

GET THE TURKISH TROOPS OUT OF CYPRUS, AS WELL AS ALL THE ILLEGAL OCCUPENTS. IF TURKISH CYPRIOTS WERE LIVING HERE BEFORE THEN FINE, ANYONE CAN GET OUT THE COUNTRY THAT IS HERE ILLEGALLY.

CYPRIOTS ARE A CIVILISED NATIONALITY. TURKISH CYPRIOTS, CLAIM TO BE TURKISH CYPRIOTS, BUT THEY ARE TURKS. AND A GOOD TURK IS A DEAD TURK. THERE WILL BE A TIME, WHEN WE TAKE CYPRUS BACK.
MAYBE WE WILL CLAIM ITS A "Peace operation", and rape and kill all the turks like you did to us, you fucking animals.

ChrisD: |Don't let the buggers get you down. :(

They were sent to try us. They love nothing more than to taunt us like the immature bullies that raise them.

The only thing that keeps me going is to remember that indigenous Cypriots have existed in Cyprus for over 10,000 years. In that time we have been invaded on a number of occasions. But, we have ALWAYS regained mastery.

True, they have all left their mark and Cyprus is more interesting because of that. On the down side, the Turks are the only ones to have come without gifts of knowledge etc to enrich us with but....

The Turks have only been in Cyprus a few hundred years, their time will come to leave too.

Bring on the next lot of invaders; for above all:

:) CYPRIOTS ARE NOT XENOPHOBES. :)

Go ahead, leave the main meal out GorillaGal and just go for dessert.

Pre-frontal cortex too small to process much information?

Oh yeah: desserts/USA/desserts/USA/desserts, somehow those two go together. Full of empty-goodness.
