Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer has accused the Leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration of pursuing contradicting policies on the Cyprus issue.
Mr Soyer said Mr Papadopulos who had inspired his people to reject the UN peace plan at the 2004 referendum, is now suggesting a meeting with President Mehmet Ali Talat after re-standing as a candidate for Presidency.
Prime Minister Soyer was speaking during a visit to the village of Nergisli, where he informed the villagers on the latest domestic and foreign developments.
On the Cyprus issue, Mr Soyer accused the Greek Cypriot Leader Tassos Papadopulos of pursuing contradicting policies towards solving the problem.
`Mr Papadopulos – who had inspired his people to reject the UN peace plan at the 2004 referendum, is now suggesting a meeting with President Mehmet Ali Talat after re-standing as a candidate for Presidency` he said.
He added that Mr Papadopulos is under pressure both from the international community and his own people towards finding a solution to the Cyprus problem.
Noting the Greek Cypriot Side wants the closed city of Maraş, he said this issue could only be discussed after the international isolation on the Turkish Cypriot people is lifted and a solution is found to the Cyprus problem on the basis of political equality.
