I think Cyprus College is in Nicosia, the legal part of Cypus, not the illegally occupied northern part of Cyprus. Also, I am a very tall black girl. How does that translate for me??? I suppose you might not see a lot of black girls in Cyprus?

how is the public transportation system? and is Nicosia a good place to walk around? (from house to school and stuff like that?)

yes it is in the south recognised part.. i also study at the cyprus college.. public transport is ok you have the travel express and busses.. its a nice place to walk around its close to down town where all the shops are. 10 minutes walk not even that from the cyprus college

Education comes from the academic stuff that teach in those Universities not from politicians. So they do have more Universities than us but we have several colleges. The education that they offer is good in some of them and the degrees are recognized almost from all Unies.

Well your question made me search the subject along with some other questions that i personally had. You said state by the way. i dont see any state....but yes what they claim as goverments is only recognised by Turkey but some of the degrees are recognised by some Educational organizations from EU, UK, USA, Turkey etc

What they did not manage to do is get a full recognition from EU for the Universities which do not allow them to be members in project like Bologna process

Girl you aint gona come to get the tall guys from me ok? Kidding...well trust me you will have lots of men around you I guess.

I will disagree with palio... (Kidding) ...public transportation is not the best one...and if you will be a student I won’t suggest too many taxies. Well yes Cyprus College is in the Legal territories and is near the center but I am not quite sure if it 10 min walk...I didnt walk that way...

Nicosia is a good area to walk and I suggest to get a house/flat/room somewhere near there even though might be quite expensive.

LENA wrote: Cyprus College is one of the 3 best colleges in Cyprus and in my opinion the second one. You do not have a dress code to attend to the classes. You dress up as you want and wear anything you want. Especially if you hang around with international students you will see that anything is fine. Most Cypriots students at the moment do care about fashion but do not dress weird or different than other people. As for the shoes is up to you really...most students wear trainers and now during summer Summer shoes ... but all kind of shoes are fine here.

As for the food...people gave you the wrong impression I guess...yes Nicosia is full of McDonalds, Fridays, KFC, Goodies, Burger King and lots of other fast food. But we have nice restaurants lots of kebab places and cheap ones...Chinese food, Japanese food, Lebanese food, lots of Italian restaurants, Mexican food every single taste you will find it.

Comparing with what i used to pay in UK food is a lot cheaper here in Cyprus than there. I dont really know the prices in Texas but foreigners usually say that Cyprus is an expensive one. I didnt see anywhere cheaper coffee apart from my house so its up to you to decide. We do have Costa coffee and Starbucks if those are your preferences, but local coffee shops are better in my opinion.

In my opinion I think you will not have any problem if you are black...we do have people in Nicosia that are colored but most of them works for UN. I have met some of them  and they were good looking too. Nicosia and generally Cyprus is safe if you are not looking for troubles and I hope you know what i mean with that.

A small tip makazine...your college is turning into private Uni soon so it is a very good choice there. May I ask what are you going to study there?

There is only one Cyprus my dear. Yes it is in the true and only Cyprus. Your college is in the free areas and in the legal territories...no need to be scared. I hope this blocks here didnt scared you enough to run away. Try if you can to visit other cities as well if you will be able. Nicosia is not the most beautiful city that we have got but is the capital and sometimes can be busy and noisy. I wish i was going to be here that period but it seems that i wont :(

I do know how is to study away from home to a place that you never been or know anything about it. I am glad if I helped in any way my dear... and I am happy that you were interested to know about us as well. Means that you respect the country that will accommodated you for a while and trust me if you come with those ideas you wont have any problem. By the way I forgot to say that you wont have any problem with the language since we speak English everywhere. Your subject sound interesting. May i ask why you have chosen Cyprus for that course?

Hey, I'm about to go to work. Basically, I was selected out of a number of people in Houston by a company who wanted to diversify study abroad experiences for American students. One of the workers suggested I go to Cyprus. But that was not my original choice (I wanted to go to Switzerland). But I am glad I am going to Cyprus and Hopefully I have a great time.

As my time in Cyprus comes closer, I think I will have more question, so I really do appreciate all the repiles.
