Need serious help

Postby zan » Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:05 pm

Is anyone able to tell me the best way to trace someone. A very very good GC friend of mine is in serious trouble in the UK and I need to find an old Armenian friend who might be able to help financially. This is a serious matter guys so please put the Cyprob to one side for this one and help if you can........He is a good guy, though easily lead, and I need to do this for him. Thanks from my heart in advance.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am in the UK too so that is not the problem. The problem is that I have not seen him for 20 years and all I have is his name. I am just looking for ways to look for him on the net maybe other than Google.

Zan,

You are trying to locate an Armenian that you have not seen for 20 years, so that he can help your very good GC friend financially. ????

I have a feeling that you will be able to locate him, but I doubt very much, that your efforts will bear any fruit, as far as your GC friend getting any financial help from this long lost person.

I'm just curious though. Just how do you plan to approach this Armenian person after you find him.? Are you going to say, " I have just spent 6 months looking for you after 20 years of not seeing each other, so that you can help my GC friend out financially". Oh by the way, how are you.??

I admire your sense of loyalty to your GC friend Zan, and wish you all the luck to find the "missing person", so that your GC friend can get the financial help that he needs.

Why don't you send the Armenians name to the members that you trust through the PM, so that they can also try to locate him.

I volunteer if you like to have some more help.

Ok, I see the problem. It might take too long for your purposes but did you know the Salvation Army offer a 'tracing' service but I don't know if it has to be a relative or not, you could ask them. The only trouble is without dates of birth and similar information it can be a dead end. If you know what area he might be in you could try the electoral register which is public unless the person has selected not to be shown on the register. Other than that I don't really know what to suggest unless you know who he was working for as an employer could pass on a letter or message but they will not give out any information (for obvious reasons) then the onus would be on him to contact you back! The problem is data protection covers so many records that you might be facing an impossible task. Good luck with your search, I hope your friend is OK?

My Armenian friend knows him as well Kiks. We spent our teenage years together????We were all very good friends. My GC friend does not know I am doing this and would stop me if he knew but he is serious trouble and the money would be for a good lawyer and not for anything else. This has really upset me Kiks so please don't try to annalise it. I just need help on search methods. I have no idea if it is possible at all but I must try. I would not get in touch with my Armenian friend for myself. We really fell out 20 years ago. This is beyond pride.

Sorry Zan, I did not mean to be insensitive.

Good luck with your search.

Perhaps if you list the things you have already searched to find him, might give others some other ideas, what you may not have thought of yet.

approaching someone in the Armenian community is the best way to go with this search -- sadly I don't have any contacts within that community but perhaps some forum members do ?

Hi Zan,

For all its worth, my father used to buy all his spare parts for his cars from an Armenian spares shop in Kentish Town. My father knew him from Cyprus and he always told me this Armenian gentleman knew everybody in the community (TC and GC). I forgot what his shop was called but it was on the main Kentish Town Road and I believe it was 2 or 3 shops knocked into one, so it was a big shop.

I'm sure its still there, try and contact them see what they say..
I hope you find your friend and can help your GC friend out.

Good luck.
