Mike Reid - RIP

Postby Hazza » Mon Jul 30, 2007 1:17 pm

Just read on the BBC news page that Mike Reid has sadly passed away through a suspected heart attack.

I remember run-around when I was a kid, and found him entertaining. Several years later, saw a video of him doing his standup comedy, I was in fits. Of course, he later went on to Eastenders as Frank Butcher.

RIP big fella

Yeah, I saw him live too. He was pretty good (although I will forgive him for nicking one or two internet supplied jokes). Funniest line was when he said why he was always crying on Eastenders ("Pat! Pat!"). Wouldn't you if you were married to Pat? Class.

Shame he's gone now though. Just looked it up and he was 67. Bit young really, but I'm guessing he didn't have the healthiest lifestyle (then again neither do my huge great aunts (in their 80's and 90's) who live off oxygen tanks built into the walls of their houses and still manage to finish off a packet a day...).

Cheers

Sad news.......He was a keen Golfer and plaid wuite a bit of golf at the Golf Club in Essex where I used to work. He was always cracking jokes and was a really nice polite man.
