How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

So nothing will happen tomorrow, but be sure that the right time will come.

This post by you has confirmed what I thought of you all along to be true. FULL OF SHIT.

And of course we will stop you from many things. What did you think, that you can just steal our land and suffer no consequences? Thats one of the reasons Turks are loosers. They never managed to become civilized and get along with their neighborers.

Come on tell us what you really think...Where do I sign for unification brother

And who told you we need your signature to take our land and our rights back? We know very well that what you want is to keep what you stole from us, and therefore we have no other option than to fight for our land and our rights.

Come on then, lets fucking fight for a final solution. Call Greece tomorrow and tell them to get ready for combat. I'd love to see the outcome of such a fight.

I predict a first round knock-out, what say you?

I think , while he is on the phone to Greece, he should ask them if they would like a massive unification of Turkey, Greece and Cyprus, north and south. They might turn us down though because then they would be the minority..     *80,000,000 Turks to 10 or 12, 000,000 Greeks. Sounds good to me and not a drop of blood shed.

Brilliant idea, you never know. They may well like the idea "united we stand divided we fall"

This kind of talk, apart from being amusing, reflects the past which was so detrimental for our peoples. The posters that shout about the ethnic cleansing of Greek Cypriots in 1974 most probably watched passively the unfolding events between 1963 and 1974, when the Turkish Cypriots were forced into enclaves and the government was hijacked by the Greek Cypriots who had a hidden agenda and could not therefore stomach the 1960 agreements that made the two communities equal partners of our island.

I too wish it were possible to go back to the 1960 agreements but these things do not happen in the real world. Our only hope is a solution based on bizonal bicommunal federation to which both communities can agree and put the past behind them. By throwing accusations at each other so liberally and hatefully, if I may so so, we are just destroying any chances that may still exist for a peacefull solution.

This has been my philosophy all these years in the fora and life in general and I have grown to realise that peoples hearts soften and mellow when sympathy, understanding and good will are genuinely displayed. I stress the genuine part, because people have a magic instinct to recognise the pretender, the fake. These are crucial preconditions if we are to live together again in one country.

I do not expect everybody to behave like this. I am pragmatic enough to realise that bigots will always exist. The question is, can the sincere and patriotic Cypriots carry the day and stop bowing to the populist cries of the fanatics?

I accept that the Turkish Cypriots made their stance in 2003 when they got rid of Denktash. It was a great feat, because Denktash was like Makarios was to the Greek Cypriots. My community might get another chance in February 2008. Come February, a great battle will take place between the rejectionists and the moderates. The future of Cyprus will probably depend on the outcome of this election.

For the first time in the last four and a half yera I am confident that something good may emerge in February. I ask the peace loving Turkish Cypriot compatriots and brothers to stay with us. We can make it happen together!

I second your sentiments and the call for more empathy and understanding ,dear Bananiot...Compassion,empathy and understanding will inevitably result in trust and mutual respect. Once that is achieved, the just and lasting solution will present itself...All this talk about another war is only playing into the hands of those who have so successfully managed to divide us as a nation in the past.By insisting on digging out the dirt from the past we are only cutting our noses to spite our faces.

I understand the need of people who feel oppressed and unjustly treated (on both sides) to let off some steam every now and then. But when it becomes the rule, when we cannot talk to each other without insults and without throwing up bitterness all the time,it becomes so depressing, and it makes even those of us who still dream of reunification turn away in despair...Lets Make Love Not War...That will make a much better world for our children. :(
