I have read many posts in this forum disputing the Nationality of Greek Cypriots.

Some "Neo Cypriots" claiming that the citizens (presently of South Cyprus) have an own "Nationality" an the word Nationality refers to origin and not to state.

I consider that such a statement is not based on any historical evidence but is just a emotional reaction in one part and political propaganta on the other.

Emotional reaction related to Greek Junta policy against Cyprus.
The problem here is that this same Greek Junta made many wrong things in mainland Greece also but the people there never hought of course to change Nationality because of a dictatorship.

Political propaganta separated in two periods:

aa.1950-1974:During this period the political party of AKEL was fighting the Greek oigin of the people as an effort to avoid union with Greece and therefore memnbership of Cyprus in NATO.

bb.1974-today:After the Turkish invasion and the death of "ENOSIS" the leadership of the big political parties, wrongly believing that the creation of Cyprus nation mentality will help them to convist Turkish side to agree on re-union of the Island create a confusion to the population-The plan is the population to accept easier the hard terms which any solution of he Cyprus problem will provide for the majority of the Island.

There is not any historical evidence showing different origin of Greeks of Cyprus and these living today in Rhode or Kos Island.

The bigger problem here is that the above propaganta created a climate in a part of the GCyprus society where any body who refers to our Greek origin is a fanatic or supporter of Junta.

Is a crime against the population that an internal propaganta to try to convist a society to change nationality, a scope which usually is done by foreign powers when they invate a country.

The real problem here is this internal propaganta which proved very succesful in comparison with hundred of years of foreign trial on same scope.

Is a crime on basis a population with one of the creatset history , with one of the best civilization an lnguage , suddently to deny all and within 30 years to became a nation of nobody!!a nation from no-where!!

I believe that those from cyprus are Cypriots. I do have connections with Greece, but this is only because i was born there. I believe that G/C's and T/C's should be together as 1, as Cypriots.

I myself (now living in the UK) don't use the term Greek Cypriot, just Cypriot..

I fully agree that GCs and Tcs must leave together in the island but this has nothing to do with the presented theory that GCs are not Greeks.

well said ... yes we can see that most Greek Cypriots dispise Greece for the junta years and therefore talk gibberish regarding their ethnic origin ..

just ask any Turkish cypriot ...if he considers himself as they same as a Greek ..well they wrote it quite clearly over the mountain in the capitol

if you are only cypriot ..yet you speak Greek then you desend from the most dominate race on the island ..Greeks ...salamis for example was Greek ...paphos was Greek ruled ...inland was Greek ruled

you all desend from mother Greece ...accept that mistakes were made and make peace with your desendents ....check your surnames ..where do they come from ...

as i previosuly suggested please speak to your Euro M P ...

on this island there are two dominate cultures ...Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot ... or you can be armenian maronite ...etc

so accept you are just that one of the two ..and stop being so immature ...

I agree that we are desendants of greeks, ofcourse we are. But we are a seperate country, our language is a dialect, and our culture is altered.

I have friends in Greece who find it impossible to understand Cypriot !!

Enough lookin' to the past, it is time to look to the future, we are an independant country. we should be looking to a united Cyprus, instead of taking steps backwards lets take them forward !!

Can you please remove that offensive term GREEK CYPRUS . There is only one Cyprus not Greek and not Turkish and if you have any brain you will check the official name for Cyprus as listed in the EU and the UN.

I take it that you have recognised the "TRNC" by insinuating , yes Insinuating , that tre are two nations in Cyprus . Would you be from Greece by any chance ?

Come on Miltiades, its a fact of life that the "RoC" is run by GCs for GCs..the TC element has been missing for over 33 years.

Not only is it missing but it will never be reinstated in any plans that the "RoC' has for us. 30% partnership has already been dwindled to 18% in their minds and that will disappear within 20 years with a unification as they propose it.
