one of the reasons why we have soo much trouble in cyprus is a direct result of those two flags flying on our land turkish and greek flags

Yes, I agree. Its been part of both our cultures. Personally, I never thought that the Greek flag was in the wrong country. I would even fly a 'Jolly Roger' had I have one.

Stop playing games. You know what I am talking about. If you dont, ask someone to enlighten you. I am not qualified to teach you your 'Greek' culture. From 1955/56 I have seen the Greek flags being waved at the British Colonialist during riots in Kerinia. As they say the sky was blue with them. At that age I did not understand why they were rioting , but my ears are still ringing at the sound of the GCs baying for Enosis and shouting their Zito Eoka slogans. That was part of the GC culture at the time. Now I am still wondering when GCs fell out of love for their 'motherland' Greece.

When we realized that it was not union but conquest. Which leaves you now to realize that conquest is exactly what happened to your side. We managed to narrowly escape, at some great cost, what are you going to do Deniz?

This is an argument I have had in here with several GCs and "live" with people here in Greece.

Union implies an act between equals and the result is greater than its constituent parts. But that was the assumption behind Union. In practice what was planned was to make Cyprus just another district of Greece, and not at all a Union which would have allowed Cyprus to contribute to make Greece a little better. So we when we understood the trap the orientation changed from Union to independence, for which many of us were called traitors etc. The usual sentence for anyone who does not blindly follow the chauvinist line.

The Greek side had an open debate in the Greek parliament where government reports and policy of the past were openly discussed. Union is no longer an option. At least the Greek side has come clean. We are now waiting for an equally candid revelation of past Turkish policy and declaration of goals and we can move on.

That can only come with Turkey in the EU and the Tcs reinstated in their rightful place in government as per the Zurich agreement.

Very well said but I have one more point to add to the above if i may for a thought for the GC you say Turkey invaded Cyprus which i do agree by the way the question i have is
why no one say Greece invaded our language since 1974 the Cypriots language has change no hi-fan [that is change the way it was read en before 1974] what happen?
