you mean to tell me that nearly a billion people in south america originated from portugal and spain, they all have spanish names they are all catholics and they all speak either spanish or portogues. ...................the polupation of portugal is ten million...............population of spain is about 44 million thats under 60 million combined. how do you account for nearly a billion people speaking their language and practicing their riligions, did they all emigrate to south americ and fecked like rabbits in order to reach this number

err yeah ,,,the southern states of south america etc ,,,,like chile speak spainish ..but are indio people from the incas ..brazillians speak portugese ....the population of mexico is largely of spainish decent ....can i also point out ...the populations of those countries are 575 million .... the argentians for example have spainish and german blood ...they are catholics ..the average brazillian family in 1870s were 7 kids ...today they are 4 ...

I am really stunned at how little history and understanding some of the Greek Cypriots on this forum have of their own roots ...
The GREEK CYPRIOT Dialect is similar to that found in Crete ,Rhodes and KOS ...this is because it comes from the ORIGINAL Greek SPOKEN IN AYIA SOPHIA .,constantinople .by INTELECTUALS ... before the TURKS invaded and rape,pillaged and enslaved the people ...

Unlike some of the Cypriots on this forum , I have been consistent in referring to my self as a Greek Cypriot , and have always referred to the Turkish Cypriots as such . Nevertheless a Greek Cypriot IS NOT A Greek any more than a Turkish Cypriot is a Turk. There must be a distinction between the Greeks of Greece and the Greeks of Cyprus just as there is a distinction between the Turkish Cypriots and the Turks. A Greek from Greece can not be called a Cypriot and neither can a Turk from Turkey be called a Cypriot , however Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots are both called Cypriots and this definitive identity is what sets us apart from either the Greeks from Greece or the Turks of Turkey.
Let me state quite clearly that a Cyprus ruled by Greece administered as an extension of Greece would for me be a Cyprus under Greek occupation. We are predominantly Cypriots and our government's position is that there is only one Cyprus and is neither Greek nor Turkish , albeit some government actions go contrary to the principles of one Cyprus. None of our official documents describe as our national identity as Greek , or our flag as that of Greece , as for the national anthem this is a thorn on the side of all who want to see an independent and united Cyprus.
