I'd say Dubai. When I was there for a few months in the mid 90's the government apparently used to advise you to keep your car running with AC on when you went into a shop. There was a time when people used to lock their cars, turn off the engine, and run the AC when they went into the shop. Battery was dead when they came out. Keep the car running though, considering the seriously low crime rate, and no problem. You didn't really question it with 50c+ temperatures (we once forgot to use the windscreen protector thingy and the dashboard melted).

Think it (well, at the time) has the 2nd lowest crime rate in the world, behind Vatican City.

Cheers

ukman my friend, safe feeling is a state of mind and that's why some people need to turn to religion to get the comfort of feeling safe, others are strong enough to face it and others break down and end up mental.

Car AC does not work with the engine turned off. The engine must be running to work the compressor.

Depends on the model. My aircon is on with the engine off, as it is electric (Honda Civic Hybrid)

Some of you lot are pathetic. Is there a single thread here without insults?

I didn't know that luck entered into the choice of a car. I chose mine because
a) it has a low carbon footprint (<½ of my previous one)
b) it has a low pollution emissions (other than carbon)
c) it is cheap to run
d) it is cheap to tax and insure
e) I get £700 subsidy from the government
f) it has a 7 year overall guarantee and 8 years on the battery and drive train

If you are in traffic, the engine stops when you stop but the climate control keeps running. Is that luck?
