Do bear in mind that the most racist people on this planet are not in Cyprus which on the whole does not have an acute racist problem. After all so many Cypriots are married to foreigners , Russians , Eastern Europeans British etc. I do not feel that racism in Cyprus where it exists is at level requiring particular attention. Let us not however confuse racism with cultural preferences , culturalism is a perfectly natural human emotion .

Negative pre-conceptions IS NOT RACISM. I gave the example that white Americans (on the average) cannot perform equally well in Olympic games like the average Black Americans. Is that RACISM????

However RACISM would be to promote only Black Americans in the Olympic team assuming only them can win a medal.

One thing to do is to show that pathetic attempts to disguise racism in some pseudo-intellectual wordgame of 'preconceptions' is nothing but self-delusional.

Another thing to do is rip away the tawdry veneer of self-justification that being 'honest' and 'non-hypocritical' somehow diminishes the effect or intent of the racism. The examples you gave of the behaviour of two sets of people who happened, you claim, to be Pontians, and your example of US athletes, fail the most elementary test of logic. (Your 'logic' goes like this : Some Pontians try to stuff an oversized mattress in a car. Stuffing oversized mattresses in under-sized cars is idiotic. Therefore all Pontians are idiots. Correct major premiss, correct minor premiss. False conclusion. With that kind of logical fallacy you can 'demonstrate' absolutely anything you want, but it is utterly and completely baseless. How does this sound 'Pyropolizer is a Greek Cypriot. Pyropolizer is a racist bigot. Therefore all Greek Cypriots are racist bigots.' Correct major premiss, correct minor premiss. False conclusion. We, you, can't go on like this - its manifest bollocks. Worse, it is dangerous bollocks.

Another thing to do is to trash the bullshit claim that anti-racism is about politeness or political correctness. Racism starts with people coming up with your kind of self-serving, self-justifying arguments and then moves pretty rapidly to people having the shit kicked out of them in the street. No Pakis, no blacks, no Irish, no Cypriots, no Pontians. Why ? 'Cos Pyropolizer thinks that anti-racism is a politically correct fashion.

This is a racist statement :

We don't have to waste our time trying to "convince me I am wrong and I will admit I am racist", your own words more than condemn you.

Let's talk about rights and racism. Every time a black, Jew, Turk, Pontian, Greek, Cypriot, German, Arab or any one else wants to say something or do something they shouldn't first have to clear away the obstacles of bigotry that racists like Pyropolizer throw in their way.

I agree with Miltiades. Cyprus is not the only place that has racists. Every country has racists. You haven’t protest for them but you did say it for Cyprus and Cypriots like is the only place or the worst place that promote racism and Cypriots are the worst kind of people when it comes to racism. Nobody said that racism is something good but unfortunately you cannot change people’s mind that easily. Even if we have lots of racists nobody killed anybody...usually racists just ignore foreigners or hassle all around for their existence. So I guess most Cypriots are not that racists but they have negative pre-conception as Pyros said.

I beleive that the Cypriot people , G/Cs and T/Cs to be amongst the finest specimens of civilized , caring , family orientated and hard working people who alongside the Brits stand shoulder to shoulder against bigots and undesirable behaviour .Fairness and self respect ranks high with the Cypriots whose culture , hospitality , friendliness , sense of humour (apart from Eliko , but he ain't one of us !!)
and their love of the finest culinary experience , the majestic Souvla , is second to none .Too early for raising my glass to the Cypriot race but will substitute the glass with a cup of good old Turkish coffee.
