bro ...you do not live in cyprus ... you see trickles of Cyprus ..i have lived here for 3 years ..i see racism everyday ... GC exploit foreign workers ...with rudeness ,low wages and daming attitudes....whether they are exploiting cheap labour from the North ,sri lankans ,filopinos ...

when you get a cluster of Greeks togeather ... they dispise the very people who come over and holiday and bring "
£ over ...they dispise and hate ENGLISH,American or any other cypriot .. yet Larnaca especially thrives on their money evey summer ..c
most are rude and have no respect for their own family ... i hear some disgusting language at times ...
M.... you like many Greek Cypriots live in the U.K ..the U.K greeks cypriots have kept much of the tradition and kindness and manners we use to have ...come and spend a day in Larnaca or Lefocia ..watch how the locals drive without a care for their fellow countrymen ...over charge one another ...lie and look down at one another ..for example today i heard this yesterday

" reh ...i drive a BMW ..i dont want to park it near this family of asian workers " this came out of a mouth of guy from the capitol visitng his aunt in larnaca and not wanting to park near some guys who stopped in the heat to rest . This same guy asked me agree with him so the traffic warden would not charge him. This same guy was so obnxious to the female traffic warden ...i was dying to spark him ...in his tight jeans crap fake DG tee shirt ... so arrogant and selfish ...he proded the poor girl till i intervened ...

no M ...we were great people. come over and see ...we have lost the plot ...too much quick money thanks to the property boom .greed is alive and well in cyprus ...and a serious lack of discipline and love for their fellow man ...is apparent ... i truely feel worried for the future ...

nationalist love their country .....their people ...i have only met 4 people i could say that about in cyprus ....

it hurts me to say this ...but i speak the truth and most cypriots on this forum...know i am telling the truth ..

Mehmet I agree on your interpretation of what makes a racist. Personal prejudices though I do not take on board , since such "prejudices " are merely observations of certain cultural activities that we in the West find deplorable, such as the killing of baby girls in India , the selling of disable children in China , which incidentally has been going on for hundreds of years , the persecution and the cold blooded murder of a rape victim by the victims family , the honour killings that happen on a regular basis even here in the UK , as you can see these are not "my personal prejudices " but abhorrent acts to all in the West.

Miltiades, you are confusing my point about what is prejudice and what is discrimination. The acts you describe are examples of things you find abhorrent according to your own cultural values. Whether or not they are shared by the majority of people or not is besides the point. Prejudice is when you make assumptions because of the actions of some people. For example 'all Greeks hate Turks' is an example of prejudice. Certainly there are some who do but there is also plenty of others who don't as this forum shows.

My experiences in Komi Kebir are detailed in 'memories of childhood' post Halil started. From what village are you?
