Ermmm....god knows   Too technical for me :?
All I know is that I can have it on 24 hours a day if I so wish, download all I want at a relatively fast speed and service is now far better with Virgin than it was with NTL..that's all I want :D

At the moment, its no secret that internet is overpriced and inferior to most of Europe. Expect some major changes within the next 12 months as the competition starts to take shape.

If you are paying £50/month with Cyta, can I assume that you also have MiVision?

Doubt it's £50. Think I pay something like £34 and that covers 1mbs web, MiVision, and I believe the phone (might be wrong on that one). Still a rip off though.

Personally I would move to one of the other providers, but I heard Cytanet is better for businesses (I work from home over VPNs to a company in the UK) and I quite like MiVision. Move from Cytanet and kiss MiVision goodbye. It's a bit annoying though as you get 4mbs with Cytanet, but 3mbs it totally directed to MiVision. Would be nice if you could have an option to redirect to the web (for full 4mbs). Is amusing though how one of the advantages listed about the VOD service (buy a film and can fast forward, rewind, pause, just like a DVD) is the superior quality over DVD. Like hell! Tried one out once and was not very good. Compressiontastic. Good for the pause functionality though. Normal channels are fine though. Not quite as good as when I had Sky+, but close enough.

Oh, and I read somewhere that Cyprus started off quite well with DSL. Was only slightly slower getting moving than the UK. And 1mbs has been around for a while now. It's just they sort of froze. Look at the Cytanet main web page. The bi-monthly bulletin news hasn't been updated since last november, and the new corporate Netrunner products link gives a 404 (for ages). This is the main provider in Cyprus. Bit amateur hour if you ask me, mixed with monopoly type tactics (apart from cable, which is rare as hell, don't all other DSL companies have to lease Cyta lines?).

Cheers
