Actually the discussion at Atca was NOT against the settlers. They were saying something along the lines "we should stop calling our brothers from Turkey derogatory names like a,b,c.

It's not used for the TCs. It's used for the settlers. In fact they are called 3 names: a)Karasakalis, b)fija, and c) "i am an idiot". The first is equivalent to the GC word Kalamarades the second is Cypriot village language meaning seaweeds. (they came from the sea uninvided like seaweeds)

It seems you've been away from Cyprus for too long??

I have not been away from Cyprus at all...I am a born bred Cypriot Turk from Limassol....I did spend a couple of years in UK back in the late seventies but ever since then i have always been in Cyprus..
Let me explain something for you..the "TC" i quoted on my previous answer was a typo mistake but we do amongst ourselves refer to them as TC's (TC) this is one of the names we call Turks from mainland...TC stands for Turkiye Cumhuriyeti..They dont like being called TC

Now we have other names for them which they dont like..such as Fija,Gaco,Karasakal but i dont recall anything that translates into "i am an idiot"

Iceman, are you a Cypriot Turk, or a Turkish Cypriot? If you were born in Limassol, and since as far as I know Limassol is situated in Cyprus, then chances are you are a Turkish Cypriot! Unless of course if you haven't yet heard that Cyprus constitutes a nation-state of its own, a member of the UN and now of the EU!

The question is whether this expression is told or not, and I don't see why Atca can be excluded in this respect.

I cannot believe what ive read here, this thread proves that us cypriots, whether locals or expats have a "we are better than others attitude". With this attitude i can see us solving the cyprob, NOT.
I was hoping that this post was going to be a little more meaningful whilst reading it but it has just proved what bigots we can be.
