Lana , having just deleted my last post in response to this individual calling me foul mouth and a fool may I respectfully request that his two posts in which he uses blatantly disrespectful comments about my person be deleted ALSO. You took no action with his comments but took exception when I called him a blithering idiot , are you allowing him to get away with insulting me , cause I wont .

If you have five minutes (or perhaps a few more!) to spare, why not delete every insult, racist remark, obscenity, stupid allusion etc. on this thread (not the posts, just the insults etc.), replacing them with, say, [removed by moderator]. That should make interesting reading, as there would be little left!!!

Now, you see why I started this thread. Three or four members spoil everything for all the ordinary blokes. These guys are driving away new members are are bringing the whole forum into disrepute.

Those that want to be treated in a respectful way should treat in that way all others, even when provoked. Follow this advice and if other members are disrespectful against you then simply send a PM to me and I will take immediate action.

I understand why some members want more moderation but please also understand that resources are limited. If you want more moderation you should start by moderating yourself and then take the 30 seconds that are needed to send to me a PM in case somebody has attacked you personally.

No wonder the Cyprus problem can't be solved. If the childlike mentality shown by educated people in this thread is typical of Cypriot politicians you can forget any solution ever. Its interesting to see that the level of abuse here is as high as ever and that's with little or no participation by Turkish Cypriots - poor Cyprus, you don't deserve the island.

Sotos, you ask me for examples : I've participated in fora and other face to face meetings dealing with Israel/Palestine, former Yugoslavia, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Iraq, El Salvador to name just a few - all of which are bloodier and arguably more intractable conflicts than Cyprus and I can honestly say that even amongst people with utterly hostile views, you rarely get these routinised kind of personal obscenities. Sometimes it is as if the capacity for unrestrained personal obscenity is the only thing some posters have to offer.

Perhaps most of you should do what I did over a month or so ago, and that was to change the way I treat other members and my own emotions on certain topics. I made a thread "Kikapu turns a new leaf" which was meant to keep my cool and not be insulting towards others as well as calling them nasty names. I can still be a "pain in the ass" with few members here by pushing my arguments at them or better still, push their own arguments back at them, and all without name calling. I may swear at times, but that is just to make my points of the argument to be more "clear" but not swear at the members directly.

Anyway, perhaps some of you may need to "turn over a new leaf" also. It is definitely better for your own sanity and blood pressure too.
