They use the letter b instead of the letter p! Cypriot Cypriots use b only when in Greek it is μπ. When it is just π then they use p

I guess doesnt matter that much how they type the Greeklish because even Cypriot dont type correct in Greeklish.

What really matters is that they manage to learn the language...showing us that they respect us and the country they live in and tried to learn our language and even our dialect....what i was discussing earlier with a "Charlie" friend of mine (Sorry Hazza couldnt hold my self on that ) was that they get confused with the two words for the same thing one in Greek and one in Cypriot...and most British Cypriots learn the Cypriots words because is what they hear everyday and then they get confused when they hear the Greek word.

my dads siter married an english man he wanted nothing to do with cyprus.... he refused to learn greek. and when he came to my cousins wedding he got drunk because everyone was speaking greek and he did nto understand... eventually they divorced and hes now with anotheer english woman... shame he dident wanna learn.. i mean why get with a kypraia if u want nothing to do with cyprus?

Really? I've only ever heard it pronounced "Eye-ya Na-pa" in the UK. Never heard anyone pronounce it with a B. Were they like really drunk or had *really* bad accents? Some of the northern accents can be pretty difficult to understand. Some Irish people don't even make a break between words...

I've always pronounced it as "Ayia Naba", saying it with a 'B' and not with a 'P'.

Anyhow, yes, it does get very confusing with the dialect. In the UK, I used to speak to my parents in Cypriot Greek. I used to go to a Greek class once a week where the teacher was from Greece, so we were learning Greek, which started clustering my little brain.

Of course, now that I'm in Cyprus, hear different words for the same thing, not knowing which is the correct one.
For grandmother, I've always known it as "Yiayia", but have also heard the word "stede" used. For head, I have heard both "kefali" and "kele", again getting even more confused.

Now if I talk in Greek to somebody, I'll use a mixture of both Greek and Greek Cypriot dialect in the same sentence, which is probably why I am very self consious of trying to talk in Greek.

In order Gcs avoiding confusion they must start speak what they learn in scholl.-Threir language and not a bastard dialog including all nations words
