Is there not a new rule which insists that ALL electical and communication cables be supplied 'underground' for ALL new developments ?.

I believe that to be the problem with an associate of mine who has been waiting for 6 months for a telephone and electrical supply line.

All the work is completed in the property, there is an existing pole less than fifty metres from it but he has been informed that new regulations are now enforceable. :?:

Hi Eliko

I believe the regulations vary from area to area. I wanted to have the electricity cables to my house underground - my architect did the drawings that way. But when he applied for a building permit he was told that the cables had to be above ground. The result was we had to build a false 'chimney' to which the electricity cables are connected. (But my telephone cables are underground).

Having said that, they're currently laying electricity & telephone cables in my village (Erimi) - they're underground.

Cheers,

Hi Nigel,

Do I assume that if you are in an area that is laying cables undergorund, that no consent from other property owners is required. :?

I'm not sure. But in Erimi, the whole of the main road through the village has been dug up for several months while electricity & telephone cables are laid (along with new drains, water supply).

Having said that, a local property developer has recently marked out the land next to me & put in roads, pavements, electricity & water. His cables are above ground.
