children of nationalism

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

children of nationalism

Postby cypezokyli » Thu Jul 26, 2007 9:23 am

i am sorry, that i post here an event that already took place.
i went there so sponaneously that i didnt have time to post it earlier

it took place yesterday, at intercollege in nicosia. i believe it was organised from the "coalition : stop the war"

present were children , wives and grandchildren of people from both sides , who had their own people massacred by nationalists from the other side. present were also the two journalists who make an incredible work in tracing missing persons - andreas parashos and sevgul uludag.

it was an amazing experience.
some people gave forgiveness, and promised to teach their children not to kill for the sake of religion or patriotism.

some others demanded punishment.

..............

ofcource, not a single political party was there. not a single candidate.
and above all, not a single tv channel. from either side. (this is the reason why one can get information about such meetings through emails)

and present were children of missing people!
but ofcource an event concerning the missing persons, cannot be bicommunal, can it ? if it is chrysostomos speaking about the "pain of the relatives" all channels will be there. when they themselves speak about that pain- it is not interesting

(not even the so-called left channel didnot come...."the left"...)

Hey cyp, what is this "coalition : stop the war" about? Do you know any more details?

Do they have any concrete proposals of how the war can end, or is it just slogans?

Since some people do not seem to know the facts and the details, the line separating the occupied areas from the rest of Cyprus is officially regarded and recorded by the UN as the "17 of August 1974 cease-fire line" between the Turkish troops and the RoC security forces, and remains with this term up until this day!

Not sinse we declared a republic I am afraid. It is just a matter of time until people realise this and that includes the UN.

Well said Kifeas!!

Piratis an association doesn't always has to have a proposal for the Cyprus problem solution...but bringing people close from both sides, forgive and be able to let the pass in the past and move on is the main aim I guess...well hopefully not all Cypriots are looking forward a fast solution that will even let go 1/3 of the island along with the anger.

Cypezokyli I hope this kind of event will take place again soon somewhere but please if you can let us know a bit earlier! But thanks for letting us know about their existence.

Zan...when you say "we" to whom are you referred to? And which republic are you talking about. There is a Republic... Republic of Cyprus...I am not sure if you heard about it but you can Google it.

Did'nt ask you to care. We have gone past that point long time ago. We demand that you care. It is quite as simple as that.
