My father , who passed away some years ago , was a fervent communist who served a prison sentence with our famous poet Tefkros Anthias , sharing a cell .Prior to being sentenced the British judge asked him to reject the communist ideology for a lighter sentence , since being a communist was a criminal offence during the British occupation of Cyprus. My father replied through an interpreter , I was , I'm , I shall be. Some years later when he recounted this part of his life to me , I asked him why did he not reject the communist ideals if it meant a lighter sentence . He replied , I could never live with my self without my ideals , I stood my ground because I was convinced I was right . This is what we all do , right or wrong we stand our ground , you with your views and I with mine .
I think the above is the most disgusting statement I have ever heard from a man of your age Sir.
How does a son embrace the principles of a nation that imprisoned his own father for adhering to his political persuasions?.
You have lived on the bread of those who dishonoured YOU by such an act and you post your view in an attempt to illustrate your own standing.
In my opinion Sir, you have none, you are a 'fence sitter' who will seek to benefit from whichever 'side' gains the ascendancy in any situation.
I hope to God that I never live so long as to see my own son become such a 'turncoat', regardless of whether he is right OR wrong.
It's all in the 'blood' miltiades, not in the mouth mate.
Eliko, with respect i think you've jumped the gun to criticise a story so personal which was just used as an example. The details and complexity of which you may not be aware of. Miltiades was making a point regarding his principles and used a personal story to make his point. Insult his views, but not his life.
