What do you expect when visiting Paphos?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I return to Pissouri bay in a few weeks & I must agree with Simon on that. However even Pissouri is seeing unprecedented changes from the sleepy backwater it was. Also agree with mad dog regarding Polis (as an area), we have family from there to Pomos, amongst other places, breathtaking views & sunsets.
As for Paphos, well no longer for me. 20 years ago it was nice & a pleasant place to be, but now just another blackpool in the sun. A hideous town currently representing most things I despise. In saying that it is catering for the mass tourist market so what do we expect. It is but a personal opinion & I accept there will be others (like my youngest) who love it. Each to their own I guess. The surrounding district of Paphos however is still lovely.

second that we went to the tomb of the kings and we were looking at where they have scraped them out with very few tools in the heat and some bloke in an england shirt walked by and said to his wife and small kids
" lets get out of here once you have seen one fuxxing hole in the ground you have seen them all " we ran out as quick as we could past the 2 fighting ice cream men and hid down lara bay bliss

It could also have something to do with hotels now becoming 'all inclusive'. They are trying to keep the tourists in the hotel to spend their money. Well at least the Brits do spend their money unlike the Russians!!

sweetie pie? u must kidding me i swear to god... Russians are the biggest spenders here, ask any Cypriot who works in tourist industry.

British tourists = Chav tourism... sharing one bedroom apartment along 6 people.
British tourists = Timeshare... cant beleive is still legal.
British tourists = BB and cheap karaoke bars.
British tourists = All inclusive tours for 300quid.

PER PERSON AND PER DAY EXPENDITURE OF TOURISTS
APRIL 2006 / APRIL 2007

United Kingdom:

Expenditure (C£)
Per Person 360.5
Per Day 39.1

--------------------------------------

Russia

Expenditure (C£)
Per Person 476.4
Per Day 62.0

REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS, STATISTICAL SERVICE

I usually read all kind of nonsense from you ppl, but when it comes to your pro British superiority talk... i am really starting to loose it.

Yes, Ramanuva but if we deduct expenditure on 'Cabarets', Russians spend less :-

Hi Mad-dog

I presume you have beento the Cyprus night on Wednesday nights?

no and i dont no if i will the pictures ive seen of it was people in football shirts doing the conga round the square now im not old but i like it abit quieter 8)
what is it realy like as its the first time staying in pissori .

we did little england and could not get out quick enought .
but we did like polis but we love pissori and will be looking for a property near there but not a new build

Its good, its a really good night. The conga bit might not be your cup of tea but its all greek music they are dancing too and not the birdie song!

There is also another Cyprus night down in the bay which is supposed to be even better, although i havent been yet. The atomsphere on these nights is fantastic - no chips, no karaoke, just plenty of wine and loads of greek food to tuck into!

mmmmm meze mmmmmm keo omg i cannot wait flying out of norwich on the 23rd a wed should get to the square just in time :D
i walk past anywhere that has pub, english food , sky sports ect
i eat with the locals coz they no where the best food is :P
god im getting hungry just thinking about a meze

Have a look for a restuarant called Hideaway. Its just behind the main square - we had a meze there and it was cracking, and very cheap. We couldn't eat all of it.
