Hi Ukman and all. Live in Shepperton, middlesex for my sins but go to my lovely cyprus 4 or 5 times a year as i manage to scrounge other peoples apartments. Usually in the Kapparis, Paralimni areas. As a matter of interest everyone, can someone please tell me why i notice everywhere empty villas, apartments etc and i started to enquire on the prices of all these and they have been going up year after year when they have been empty from new.
I just don,t get it,if you can,t sell something, surely you reduce the price, It seems to be the opposite here in cyprus. This is not one particular property but it seems to happen everywhere. Tell me i,m not going mad.

It's typical Cypriot mentality, if fewer people go to a bar they put up the prices to maintain the profit margin and then wonder why visitors numbers are down.

Do'nt finish it,do'nt maintain it,do'nt equip it with the basic needs(cooker, fridge, curtain poles) leave all the rubbish lying around and remember to put it up 20% a year at least. This is obviously the way to sell your property! Oh,and do'nt forget, that once you have trapped your honest hard working British customer, promise everything, give them nothing but hassle, supply absolutely no after sales service, never admit you may be responsible and then rip them off for maintainance services you do'nt actually do!This is the painfull view of most developers who are also ruining what is at heart a beautiful country with lovely people(All but those after your money). Bitter? You bet your ass I am, they took my lifes earnings and my dream and turned it into a nightmare!

Sorry to hear of your story Beverley. Very sad. This is one reason that has stopped me from buying from these developers. I,m afraid to say that i just don,t trust any of them, i,ve heard just too many stories like this and am petrified of doing business with them.
I still cant get over this mentality of "if i dont sell" i,ll put the price up each year anyway. Never heard anything so crazy in my life. I suppose they are waiting for that one mug who hasn,t done his/her research and goes in and just doesn,t care whether its value or not. Sadly there are people out there who do just that.

there are 8,000 empty properties in the Limassol area, in the Paphos area the figure is 11,000.
Now I'm sure the Brits didn't build them, UK Sky channel 679 is always encouraging people to "hurry they're going fast".
Maybe they're getting ready for the price to double on entering the Euro.
