Whether it is the fact that English is you second language or like Eliko you take everything to the extreme, true more younger people are coming to Cyprus but the vast majority are still people of retirement or approaching retiring age, I certainly could'nt have raised a family of four on Cypriot wages.
Please stop using words like prostitution etc implying that all the evils of the world have descended on Paphos via the Brit ex-pats arrival and just remember who encouraged the Brits to come.

We seem to have got stuck on the language issue when my posts have as much to do with the 'Little England' mentality. A large number of today's ex pats will happily tell you where the best English beer is served but would not even know what Paphos is really famous for.

aapapa, its necessity that dictates having to learn another language in most cases. Ask your self this.
Prior to the Cyprus conflict most T/Cs , if not all , spoke Greek . How many G/Cs spoke Turkish.Hardly any.
I have said before that I have been with my English wife since 1963 and yet apart from a few words she ca not string a sentence together. You know why ? We all speak English in Cyprus , no need if you are not predisposed to learning foreign languages.

Well, good news for those who feel that Paphos traditional Cypriot culture is at risk: today and tomorrow it hosts the Fourth National Beer Festival. At this, no doubt a fight will break out between the Efes vendors and those of Keo :-)

Beer will only be served in English and only to those with tatoos and ear piercings; preference will be given to those with over-pink skin from too much sunbathing and a bad taste in clothes :-)

Hi Miltiades

To be serious - and to balance the agenda for those who will be led to believe that Paphos is now just a large Karioke club - I have never been to the Beer Festivals, but in the same location - the harbour and Byzantine castle as a backdrop -every September they host the most marvelous Opera, which is truly magical and that I do go to.

This year it is Il Travatore, another Verdi masterpiece!
