Another thing I didn't like about this story is the way they covered it.

The only thing they did right was just to place it in the 21st page and say at the end that other people also reported them minor similar problems the same day.

Jesus we are TALKING FOR THE 20th OF JULY 1974 here can the TCs realize what this means?

What's the use of names and sentimental outbursts and even personal political comments like " how could the EU let these people in" . The EVENT was that a car bearing TC license plates drove through a demonstration against the anniversary of the Turkish invasion, the car was vandalized by the angry GC protesters and the TC people inside the car run through a very dangerous situation. That was the event! Every sensible man can draw his own conclusions. They could also publish photos of the vandalized car as evidence.

Now let's see how the GC media covered the burning of the 3 GC cars during at the very first liturgy of St. Mamas at Morphou.3 GC cars were burned. They showed photos, one TV station also showed one while it was still burning. No names no nothing. NOBODY knows whose GCs those cars belonged. Nobody went there to take interviews and write their frustration down, and all their sentiments and if they would cross again or not. It's just something that happened. Every GC watched it and drew his own conclusions. (My personal conclusion was that if this would escalate then crossing over would be suicide). IT DIDN'T escalate.

In fact I would never know one of the cars belonged to Dr Economou (neither you guys  ) unless he was a friend of mine and would tell me about it. I don't even know to whom the other 2 cars belong.

In a nutshell even Kibris newspaper which is advertised by many TCs in here as moderate, seems to be "cultivating" and directing the TC public opinion (using the necessary excuses) in a specific direction.

Pathetic thats all I can say and very reminst of the 1960s when GCs explained away all our fears and problems to a degree that they made themselves believe we were living in holiday camps and having the time of our lives.

Tell me something. What excuses, comments, arguments or anything else you want to call it do you make, when TC's commit acts of aggression or actual crime on each other, or doesn't such things ever happen in the "TRNC" now or will ever in the future, but it is only an issue with you, if it happens between the GC's and the TC's now or in the future. How do you sleep at night VP, because there are other non TC's living in the "TRNC" and you do not have a problem with them.

You have become as predictable as they come.

No further comments from me necessary really.

It's amazing how VP remembered the exact page in which the article was (page 21) but she prentends she forgot the exact content. I would bet she had the newspaper right in front of her all along...

I thought what stupid idiots could do this, they should be caught and punished severly, made examples of. GCs should not be harmed in any way shape or form in the TRNC and if we see anything we should intervene, we should make them feel safe.

Yeah you intervened so well that they even placed a bomb on Ayios Mamas church. You seem to be forgetting a lot of things.

I wish I could understand what
it is people are really after sometimes? Th final statement coming from someone who is making plans to have a picnic with iceman and Halil! And yet the response to VPs last statement above is totally uncalled for!

This IS what provocation is at the least and can even be interpreted as bullying! I mean does this:
I thought what stupid idiots could do this, they should be caught and punished severly, made examples of. GCs should not be harmed in any way shape or form in the TRNC and if we see anything we should intervene, we should make them feel safe.

really deserve the last response and if so WHY?

Very funny indeed...

VP
You guys still dont get it do you..the act itself is deplorable but what did 99% of you do? you have made every excuse under the sun to brush the incident under the carpet, this is typical of GC mentality and what we fear in a united Cyprus all our problems will be conveniently brushed under the carpet while any bad acts against GCs will highlighted and analysed to death just so that you can brand us the evil and unruly ones. VP the act is deplorable, not only because it happened against a TC but more importantly human beings. Yes there have been attempts to minimise the incident. Some good possibilities and plausibilities. However, ther is no excuse for physical harm on another human being. I doubt that it is Greek speaking Cypriot mentality. You did not experience the 1960's so holiday camps as you put it, so I do not think you can fairly coment on the topic. To some extend I believe we all perpetuate the victim attitude. The rality is in a united Cyprus the incidence of race or language related crimes will not occur. There will be no thug to say that someone has stolen their property, that someone has sold their land, that someone has used their shops at their expense. However if we keep on the track of this is what we are afraid this is what we create. our thoughts and actions create our experience. The sooner we start assisting our people to mix togetehr and encourage interaction the better it will be for our children in the future. Whther we like it or not the partition moda is out as is the RoC. Too many players on board now and too many stakes none Cypriot. A BBF is the only direction headed for Cyprus. So if that is the case and both sides know they will have to sacrifice (or if positive view taken a gift to be given) then lets start of creating places, venues, programs and projects that will bering or people together so when this BBF thing comes along the young will be saved the power of hate, discrimination and bigotry that exists on both sides of the Green Line. I find our endless reapeted blame games non condussive to anything other than the results of the last 33 years. If either side had benefited I would have said what the hec let it be, this is not the case, if you can honeslty look at your self in the mirror staright in the eyes and ask yourself has the Turkish community benefited in the last 33 years well then that would be a great liberating moment.
