I apologise for not quoting the report word for word but does it may it any less of an attack, do we need to see blood and death to condemn and apologise for these acts? it appears 99% of the Gcs are making excuses to try and explain this attack away as if it never happened and that in my book is pathetic. It takes a bigger man to acknowledge it and apologise.

Kikapu...have you not heard of opening more than one windows and keeping track of the same thread while typing a reply?

I can barely keep track of things with just one window open, so please Iceman, don't confuse my fragile mind.

I open 2 windows sometimes, but that's for getting something from another thread, but still, we are talking about 1 minute difference here, and more than likely, he was typing during this time and not reading. :?

errm...! My current profession actually involves computer programming at high level languages as well as few lower ones, eCommerce (online marketing) and Search Engine Optimisation - add to that good 8 hours a day of computer related work every day (not forum reading by the way) and you might appreciate why I would sometimes have a slight advantage.

Knowing exactly how you think and what you will be asking next, as well as to prevent any unnecessary assumptions, based on previous info-exchange, there is the need for the following addendum: (So please do not interpret this as boasting or self appraising) Although I do have commercial and instructors flight ratings, flight instruction is just a part-time hobby for me. :D

Well, it's all beginning to make sense now, and I wouldn't imagine even for a minute that you were boasting any of your above accomplishments.

Your problem is, that just because there are social problems between different ethnic people as well as within their own ethnicity, that they should all be kept separate, just like in prisons. When crime is committed, punishment should follow, rather than each group living in their own prison camp. In another words, London should have no less than 50 separate open prisons, one for each ethnic group, because any two may start a fight, then the whole population of that ethnic group will get the blame.

In a open society, we have to take the good with the bad. What other choice do you have, other than having your own individual island, with no one else to share it with.

Let me know where I can get one also, if you happen to find one.

Come on DT there's nothing wrong with adding a pinch of salt to a story, after all if it works on chips why not with stories? :)

Let me get this straight people… a Turkish Cypriot family see fit to go to the south on the 20th of July for shopping and drive through a group of 200 odd protesters, most likely holding and waving anti-1974 banners? I question their IQ!

Personally, I think that the crossing points should close on sensitive days to avoid any events of this kind from happening.

What are you talking about?

look at iceman's translation:

iceman wrote:On the 20th of July, after spending three hours shopping in Nicosia, while driving on Makarios Avenue,Yucedal familys car was attacked by about 200 GC's who were protesting the 20th of July aniversary...While driving in trafic, their car was attacked by these protesters kicking the car and using flag poles, bottles and sticks to hit the vehicle..
luckily the traffic was not very busy on Makarios Avenue so they managed to speed away.
Mete Yucedal has said, since the checkpoints have opened they had been crossing over frequently for shopping but after this incident they will not be crossing over again.
Esra Yucedal said,we were attacked from the passenger side of the car where i was sitting..I was shocked and terrified, they swore abuse and spat all over me..cannot describe the nightmare we went through..but the worst was seeing the police watching everything and not reacting at all...I will never be crossing over again and do not want any peace with these people..
Tamer Yucedal has said,"I have arrived from London through Larnaca 10 days ago..I have been using Larnaca since the checkpoints opened, but after this incident i will not be using Larnaca anymore:ı will cancel may return ticket and travel back to London from the north..I will be telling this bad experience to newspapers when i get back to London..I dont know how these people were accepted into EU...
We,as a family have been firm supporters of peace & unification in Cyprus but now i see it is not possible to have peace with these people"..

Kıbris newspaper has noted that on the same day, smaller but similar other incidents were reported to the newspaper by phone..

Now look at your original post:
Viewpoint wrote:A family of TCs who went south on the 20//7 thinking they were safe and firm supporters of trusting GCs and reunification were beaten up and spat on by angry GCs, was this reported in your press?

Is this how the Greek Cypriots should expect their Turkish Cypriot countrymen to react to everything? "Spicing up" some already one-sided, uncorfimed stories with comments like these?

you've got a thread titled "TC Family were beat up on Makarios Avenue" I personally had images of people being phsyically hurt on the street in Makariou. You failed to mention they were in a car with tc numberplates and happened to hit a demonstration against the occupation on the anniversary of the invasion. Their car got vandalised.

This doesn;t excuse the action at all. I can't believe these morons are even around but there you have it. Sometimes you let people like your former minister of agriculture out of the asylum and sometimes we let these sons of b***** out.

You on the other hand are a deliberate s*** stirrer. Don't make me dig up your reaction to the deathbeating caught on camera that TC's gave to Tasos Isaak. Or the shooting by your minister of agriculture of Solomos Solomou. You wanna mess about like kids VP or you want to be a grown up today.

Hey DT! If you beat my car up you beat me up too OK? My car is my temple! In fact I'd rather you beat me up rather than my car - It would cost a lot less for my body to repair! :D

Actually... when you come to think of it... Many people would rather they get beat up rather than the car (depending on the make of course)

Anyway, disagreements in interpretation of the actual event or not, I feel it is mutually agreed by all that such actions (by either side) are abhorable and should have no place in the civilised world we live in today. So really there is not much else to be said...

*snip quote for brevity*

alexISS wrote:Is this how the Greek Cypriots should expect their Turkish Cypriot countrymen to react to everything? "Spicing up" some already one-sided, uncorfimed stories with comments like these?

I would like to veer off the subject a little…
I recall an incident where a Police officer used excessive force on a drunk teen. Its rare but it does occur in each and every country.

At the time, you had people who said that the Police officer in question should be disciplined harshly. And then you had others who said force was excessively used but what is this teen doing driving drunk and putting other peoples lives at risk.

My first thought was what if, just what if this was a drunk Turkish Cypriot that was handled like this by a Greek Cypriot police officer? I wouldn’t even want to imagine how some in the TC community would react. There are simply too many who wish division between the two communities and will do everything in their power to stir hatred.
