If your left arm is on the radio, changing gear or anything else instead of steering (while your right is out of the window pointing to some girls on the street) just keep direction using your knee. That should do the trick -> no hands :D

I suppose you could always have a stab at beating the record for how many people you can get on a scooter, (best I have seen is four).

Drivers in Cyprus are bad, not saying they are any better in England, but yesterday was a particularly bad day for me, they kept coming out of no where, as i was driving along. 3 times they just came out of stop signs and didnt even bother looking to see if there was anyone in the road, and my car is bright red, so they couldnt say they didnt see me!!. So thats my only tip, keep your eyes peeled, and believe me the cars can come at you from anywhere, even if it is a one way street!

Buy some rosary beads and the bible on tape and pray to God to protect you....otherwise buy a tank.

I WAS RECENTLY TOLD ..THAT GREEK CYPRIOT CARS EXPLODE IF THE DRIVER USES THE INDICATORS

IDEALLY YOU NEVER CHECK YOUR MIRRORS WHEN DOING A MANUVERVE ..ONLY IF CHECKING YOUR APPEARANCE

ALWAYS ANSWER THE PHONE WHEN DRIVING

NEVER OBSERVE THE SPEED LIMITS ...HIGH WAY CODE HAHAHAHHA... NEVER STOP AT ROUNDABOUTS

ALSO THE HIGHWAYS ARE DUAL CARRIAGEWAYS ...

IF THE GUY IN THE LEFT LANE DOES 100KPH ..AS THE RIGHT LANE DRIVER YOU SHOULD PULL OUT WITHOUT CHECKING MIRRIORS AND REACH 160KPH ...THE HEAVIER YOUR CAR IS THE BETTER ...

ALWAYS ARGUE WITH THE POLICE THAT THEY ARE WRONG .. PRETEND TO KNOW THEM AND GIVE THEM TIP OR TELL THEM YOU KNOW SOMEONE THAT THEY KNOW ...ALWAYS ARGUE

CARS FROM JAPAN ...WEIGHED DOWN BY NO SUSPENSION ARE GOOD FOR CROSS TERRAIN DRIVING

ALWAYS HAVE 6 DRINKS IE LAGER BEFORE DRIVING IN CYPRUS

IN CYPRUS WHEN DRIVING WITH FRIENDS IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD TIME TO PROVE YOU ARE MULTI TALENTED

TRY TO ANSWER PHONE ,CHANGE CD /TUNE RADIO ...AND CHANGE LANE AT THE SAME TIME

NEVER CHECK YOUR CAR BEFORE SETTING OFF ...FOR PUNCTURES ,DIRT ,WATER

IGNORE POLICE BREAK DOWN ADVICE

OFFENSIVE DRIVING IS STANDARD ...

CYPRUS DOES NOT RECOGNISED THE BRITISH DRIVING LICENSE ,EVEN THOUGH THE BRITISH STANDARDS ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD !!!!

CYPRUS IS NOT HOME OF THE WORST DRIVERS ,THE WORST CAR ACCIDENTS NOR THE HIGHEST ROAD DEATHS /ACCIDNETS IN EUROPE ...ACTUALLY IT SHARES THEM WITH GREECE

You are right! They are not any better in England. I went on a short holiday to London in June , and in 4 short days I saw such bad driving as to make ours shine by comparison. Don't ask me for details. I still wake up in the middle of the night in cold sweat.

Bollocks I say. After about a decade or so commuting on the M4 near London with oodles of traffic then Limassol is like demolition derby but with a lot less cars than I am used to...

Top tip though from me is not to step onto a pedestrian crossing (even one with traffic lights on red) unless you are *positive* that you will not be killed. Eye contact from all drivers is the best way... And I'm not joking here...

And a top driving tip : It sounds stupid, but while making sure to keep a decent distance from the idiot in front of you (good idea to think of everyone on the road as an idiot - including yourself, just incase...) also try and keep a decent distance from the idiot behind you too. Either side is a little harder... Oh, and use you mirrors a hell of a lot more than you used to. Even more than when learning to drive (and that is a lot to pass).

Cheers

Cyprus Highway Code

Postby cameron_roxburgh » Fri Jul 20, 2007 8:31 pm

Please read this before driving in Cyprus............

1) Traffic emerging from side roads have full right of way to those on the main highway.
2) Likewise, traffic coming in the opposite direction and turning right in front of you have total priority.
3) If the vehicle in front of you is only just exceeding the speed limit you are entitled to overtake them, even on a blind bend. Do not be concerned about traffic coming towards you, it is their responsibility to take evasive action.
4) Always cut corners - you will be amazed how much fuel this saves over a year.
5) At junctions, "Stop" does not actually mean "Stop" – it’s just that "Give Way if you really, really have to" would not fit on the sign.
6) A 'Red Traffic Light' also does not mean "Stop" - You should edge forward for at least 10 metres ready to roar away the moment the lights change. That half second you save may be invaluable when you are older.
7) Please be aware that the intermittent flashing light found on each corner of your vehicle is strictly for ornamental purposes only. On no account should they be used to try and indicate direction of travel as this will only confuse other road users.
8) Parking in town and city centres is not always easy but fortunately there are some 'Free Parking Areas' – these are easily identified by the black and white 'zebra' style markings with zig-zag lines either side. Should these spaces be full (they usually are) then you must not park on the double yellow lines. Instead park on the pavement alongside. Do not worry about the pedestrians as they will have ample room to go around your car and into the road.
9) If you are a motorcyclist ensure you cover your hair with lots of Extra Strong Gel. This will give your head great protection and alleviate the need to wear one of those nasty, unattractive 'helmet' type hats.
10) Also a motorcyclist should remove any type of ‘silencer' from his bike. It is important that no one should be denied hearing the tuneful melody emitted by his souped up 50cc 'Hotbird'.
The only exception to the above "Rules" should, obviously, be taxi drivers. For as we all know they can do exactly as they like!
Happy Motoring!
