Natty, the reason for my surprise is easily explained.

Whenever the 'Royal Train' arrives at a station and stops, ALL the signs for toilets are either removed beforehand or discreetly concealed so as not to offend the' Royal Eye'.

I took this to mean that Her Majesty does not need such facilities, hence my comment.
