82% - 18% partition solution.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Thanks Mikkie. Not much more than usual my friend. The forum though became so populated with posts that I really wonder how the rest of you can catch up. I mean I log in and I see a hundred new posts....
Anyway I am watching the forum-as much as I can- however it's currently very difficult for me to contribute because of the so many posts.

Anyway I take the opportunity to also welcome Ayios and tell him that I like his posts very much. Keep on the good work Ayie Ambrosie. I noticed some members called you "idiot" but I think the idiots are the ones who can’t distinguish the good joke/light tone from the serious arguments of your posts. I guess by now you already know who the ones who use to fart are....
Hahahaha!

Piratis wrote: I don't agree with this. Actually an 18%-82% partition, economically might be the best solution because we will have a lot more land for development, and the most stable system possible.

Well Piratis, I also have my doubts on that, but here are some points that I remember "as food for thought". I will search my records for such studies and try to post a link.

A)Land alone does not produce wealth unless it has resources, or used for agriculture or tourism. With the exception of Famagusta none of the returnable land will produce tourism. Regarding agriculture (source of primary wealth) well you know our miserable possition after joining the EU. Regarding other resources I don't see any other resources in those lands either.

B)With partition we will always have a competitor state next to us-always at the level of low standard of living of Turkey, dragging us continuously backwards. Especially regarding our income from Tourism. Smaggling of all sorts of goods will be out off control.Punishments from Europe will stike us one after the other for not being able to handle the situation.

C)We will need to continue and even increase our spending for arms, and continue to spend 2 of our most productive years in the Army.

I know. I just mentioned it to show why it is the worst solution for the TCs also!

Viewpoint wrote: Didnt Mr Papadop say that partition is the second best option

No he didn’t. Learn what exactly he said, and then you may translate it correctly or the way the master of distortion in this forum called Bananiot translated it.

Ditto.

Stupid might be according to your opinion of course. When you become the President of the Republic you may act in a smarter way- which in my opinion might be plain stupid.

Papadopoulos will face strong pressure from the EU to succumb, ie, tell the international community what he at last wants as changes to the A plan. The EU is strongly seconded by the USA and under these circumstances he might give in.

Concerning the speach Papadopoulos made in Helsinki. The two Greek Cypriot journalists who were physically present reported exactly what Papadopoulos said. Then, Giannis Nicolaou from RIK, came to his "rescue" giving the "necessary explanations" but of course Nicolaou was not attending his lecture. So, its up to you what to beleive. I remind al,l that in an interview in Khaliz Times, Papadopoulos said that from 1963-1974 not a single TC was killed by the GC's. I am sure I do not need to convince the even minded people in this forum.

Welcome back adelfe Mihalis.
I personally think that partition would be much better than a fake reunification of Cyprus. It is a fact that there are so many differences between the two communities that we couldn't have overcome in the last 75 years. In the beginning our only major disputes were "majority rule" and Enosis. In 40s "majority rule" and Enosis gave birth to Taksim. In 50's, as a consequence of armed struggle it was turned into a vendetta. In early 60s, our differences kept going over "majority rule", Enosis, Taksim and retaliatory vendetta. Then came the coup, followed by Turkish intervention, de-facto partition, settlers, bi-zonality etc etc. This forum also proves that although two communities have many things in common when compared to "motherlands" and rest of the world; it is a fact that; within, GCs have more things in common than they have with TCs and vice versa.

Another fact is that, two communities failed to build a fairly good, common homeland for themselves. GCs may believe that the causes of this failure are this and that and TCs the opposite. The fact: We not only failed to build ourselves a fairly good homeland; besides we have almost opposite points of view concerning the causes and remedies of the problem.

So why do GC community still insists on forced, fake reunification that most probably would fail once again? Let TCs to deal with the wrong-doings of Turkey. It's their problem. Why their low or high living standard bother you? How would TCs drag you backwards? If you think a TC state would drag you backwards, it's your problem. Why should I bother about your fears and rot my life in a non-recognized region? For me, a recognized state in the North is better than the satus-quo and a reunited Cyprus built upon insincerity. Do your job better than TCs and get your share of tourism. What you argue about tourism incomes is totally irrational. Keep your borders tight and don't let smugglers get in your are. Besides, afterwards the recognition of Republic of Northern Cyprus; there should have been no reason left for RoC not to collaborate with RoNC on any issues they have had common concerns and interests. Or would we fail to live as two good neighbours, too? Then there has been nothing to do. We gonna destroy Cyprus and move to opposite sides of the world.

Please tell me you are not serious.
A good sense of humor Vs. a crude sense of humor is not an issue to discuss here, but maybe we could still do that through PMs.

But, the statement "I am willing to screw every single one of you motherfuckers, if I don't get my property back" sounds pretty idiotic to me.

And I proposed to them to use Larnaka airport, which is 20 km off the Turkish Cyprus, but we asked—

Now this is what I have a hard time believing. T-pap referring to the north as Turkish Cyprus. Has he ever been confronted with this interview or have ever denied doing it?

The Turks say all the time that their criminal invasion was a peace operation. The members of this forum don't seem to show the same sensitivity on this constantly repeated lies.
