Greek flags in cyprus ??

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Greek flags in cyprus ??

Postby Kristianikos » Wed Jul 18, 2007 8:18 pm

When i visit Cyprus i always wonder why there is a heavy presence of Greek flags...

Even my mother wonders... and she does not really like them up..

I think it is at Laranca... along the beach where there is a line of palm trees...

at every about... 100m maybe there is a tall flag pole with the greek flag on it ..

shouldn't this be a Cypriot one ??

Kristianikos, absolutely, I think the significance behind such a show, is the reason why so many Turkish flags are furled in the North, these flags of identification can only increase tensions, the flag of Cyprus should be the only flag allowed on the island, other than those of the bases etc.

Unfortunately the flags have become a source of further antagonism between G/C and T/C, NOT the way forward I suspect. :(

paliometoxo, I firmly believe that the less of a show you make, the greater the impression you create.

The visibility of the illuminated emblems are there for the world to see, SO is the reason for them, if you allow them to antagonize you their objective has worked.

Ignore them and they lose their effect, it is not the people of the North that put them there, it is another ploy by the politicians to ensure that ill-feelings persist.

Cypriot people are Cypriot people, one day they will be as one again Please God. :)

Ye thats right, its common practice here :? , just like in Scotland, when you see a Scottish Soltire flying you will always see the St.Georges Cross of England flying alongside it and likewise in England..............I DONT THINK SO!

P.S Is the Greek army protecting Cyprus or is the Island protected by its own 100% Cypriot army with no interfearance by Greece whatsoever?,because they did bugger all in 1974 due to so called sanctions imposed on them by "yes" you've guessed it non other than the United States.
Wonder why eh?..............Fly the Cypus Flag high and be proud of it!!!!

The illuminated flag is a bit of a kick in the ass, it's like saying.

'Hah, we got half your island, and now.. we gonna shove it in your face'

One thing that pleases me about the cypriot flag is that it was created by a turkish cypriot (ahh... how i hate to categorise us)..

I think the removal of all Greek and Turkish flags from Cyprus would be nice.. Wouldn't it be lovely to see the Cypriot flags flown on both sides :D
