Greek flag is drawn along side the cypriot flag because 45% of greek cypriot race desend directly from Greece (king evagoras etc ) ie most greeks from paphos and salamina area are direct dissendents ...
Greece is also our motherland ..same as hong kong chinese are still chinese ...
in larnaca you will also see the E.U FLAG,THE FLAG OF ORTHODOX CHURCH ...
Greek provides military troops ,training ,weapons and advice to the southern cyp army as per agreements made in the 70s and 80s ...TURKEY PROVIDES TROOPS AND WEAPONS TO THE NORTH AND SOME 40000 TROOPS ETC ...

Both Greece and Turkey provide nothing but trouble to Cyprus. Cyprus does not need “motherlands” as she IS the motherland herself with a proud and rich history spanning 10 millenniums; older than that of Greece and Turkey put together.

Having discovered i have Helenic blood too recently i am more than keen to promote harmony between cultures in agean ...at the end of the day .a good percentage of Turks are also desendents from Greeces past ...

The earliest civilizations discovered in Greece are the Minoan in Crete (2700..1450 BC) and the mainland Helladic (2800..2100 BC). Turkey’s Hittite Empire (1900-1300 BC) is also a baby compared to the Cypriot settlement "Choirokoitia" (3,500 BC) added to Unesco's World Heritage List in 1998.

By contrast the first Greeks to arrive on the island were Myceneans (people from the southern part of Greece called “Sparti”) at around 1500BC with the aim of trading their goods. Some of these Greeks stayed and lived on the island and in time their influence was successful enough to shape language, religion, and the culture of Cyprus.

Cypriots occupied Cyprus for over 5,000 years before the very first Greek showed up. It looks something like this...

Cypriots (Cypriots) 7000 BC +5,500 years
Greeks (Myceneans) 1500 BC +3,070 years
Turks (Ottomans) 1570 AD

Civilization wise:

Turkey (Hittite Empire) 1900-1300 BC
Greece (Minoan in Crete) 2700..1450 BC

oranos Australia's first european inhabitants were from British descent we do not fly the British flag at some stage a nation needs to stand on it own feet, especially when it got itself in hot shit because of this need to identify as something that perhaps was centuries ago. Greeces military support is appreciated but if we are movig toward a unified society we need to become a trully independant nation and become the motherland of Cypriots.
