Hi Joanna - Yes - fair point. However, during this time property in the UK is also increasing! I know its not too scientific a process, but if UK and Cyprus property rises by, say, 5% a year, as our UK property is of a higher value, we'll still be in a better position.
PS - I don't take a great deal of notice of the claims that Cyprus property prices are about to "explode". They've been saying this ever since we started looking, citing various reasons. Ultimately Cyprus property prices tend to follow those of the UK. A boom here will boost Cyprus prices.
Add this to the fact that asking prices in Cyprus are not being met - sometimes by a substantial percentage, so I'm not too worried at the minute.
Equally there are claims that the "bubble will burst", but I don't go along with that either.
Ultimately, we don't intend to work when we get there, so we have to ensure we have a satisfactory financial package before making the leap.
Still - we do keep an eye on any developments, and are trying to remain flexible should things change one way or t'other.
regards,
Richie
