A 'Gun to the head' merely ensures that you have the person's undivided attention, it does not mean that they are obliged to take note, THAT is the philosophy of a bully, don't you think ?.

i think a gun to the head could be a bully, but it also could be civilization. if we were not heald responsable of our actions by a government, crime could be rampant. it is the fear of having that "gun to your head" sometimes that keeps people in line and obeying the law.

Is THAT how they manage to keep the crime rate down in the US ?, I thought there was rather an excessive amount of 'gun crime' there.

Do you not think that a society led by 'example' would be more likely to encourage it's citizens to obey the law ?, for instance, if the leaders and those closely associated with them were less frequently exposed as fraudsters and liars, would that not serve as an incentive for less crime. :?: :?:

don't throw gun crime in my face, eliko. i heard about how the hunters in cyprus shoot the dogs when they are of no use anymore. that is a crime.
sure we have crime here, but cyprus is 6 times larger than our state of conneticut, and far less populated. of course there would be more crime where there is more people.
it is my understanding that cyprus is 9250 square km, with a popilation of over a million people? new york city is only 787 square km, with over 9 million people.
it is proven the stiffer the punishment, the less crime there is, so hence, sticking a gun in someone's face will pretty much get them to see things your way pretty quickly.

GorillaGal, God Bless you for the faith you have in your nation, I am not going to engage you on the issue as I am sure you have taken quite enough 'Flak' already.

I do not wish to create the impression that we are enemies, let us see what takes place in the course of the next few months.

It is almost midnight here, I am very tired and wish you a pleasant day, Goodnight. X

Eliko can you tell me if as you say the coalition are so despised in Iraq why are the Muslims killing each other by the dozen each day.
What warped sense of justice will you come up with to justify why Muslims are killing Muslims everyday, deliberately slaughtering innocent men, women and children? How will you turn it around to be the fault of the coalition. If you are a Muslim tell us your views on Muslims murdering Muslims, are they following their late leaders example by murdering Muslims, remember one incident, 180,000 Kurdish Muslims at just one sitting and lets not foreget the Marsh Arabs., how many of them were they?
It would be very easy to form the opinion that you agreed with everything that Saddam and the Taleban did.
Were you complaining when NATO forces went to the aid of Muslims in the former Yugoslavia/Kosovo. If not it seems like double standards to me.

Southerner, I am sure I have made my position quite clear regarding the questions you pose, if you were to read through our recent exchanges you will discover the answers you seek.

If you have formed the opinion that I condone the actions of Saddam Hussein and Co, you confirm the fact that you have not.

As to your comments about NATO, I cannot see the connection between an unlawful attack on an innocent nation (condemned by most of the world) and an action which was sanctioned by the same world leaders.

As to your veiled snipe at my integrity, I consider your remark to be insulting and beneath you Sir, if you are a gentleman of course.

Eliko I am in no way challenging your integrity, If I appeared to I applogise, what I meant was the GorillaGal was showing her own integrity for her views which I agree with.
I never ever considered the Invasion of Iraq wrong, what I considered wrong was stopping and not finishing the job in the first Gulf War.
The west contributed to the slaughter of countless people in Iraq during the time between the trwo wars.
And if anyone comes up with indiscriminate US bombing of civillians on anything like the scale of Saddam against his own people provide proof not propoganda Baby Milk Factory garbage.
