To us this is heinous behavior because we are from cultures that value children regardless of their sex, and for the most part, the Indian culture values their children as well. Unfortunately, there is an ignorant/indigent element in most cultures that, for whatever 'reason' (I use the term loosely) resorts to abusing, exploiting, and sometimes killing them. In India's case, the perpetrators are indigents acting in desperation.
Under these circumstances, Crivens, outsourcing to India isn't such a bad idea, neither is Dyson moving its production there. What these indigent people need is gainful employment. If these employment opportunities are provided by businesses from countries with a culture that values children, then all the better for India, especially India's girls. When those who are responsible for providing for their families can adequately do so, then the quality of life for these girls is bound to improve.
