Postby k'n'G » Wed Jul 11, 2007 11:08 am

Hi - can you give me an idea of running cost per month for a two bedroom apartment in use all year (our maintainance is approx £28) so I would like an idea of Water rates, Electricity, council rates, telephone (standing charge) broadband , and anything else you can think of .

Many thanks

i think broadband is 40/month including the telephone line

water is cheap (~30-40) for a 4 bed house .. that one is paid every few months i think

electric we pay around 100-120 every 2 months all year round excluding the couple really hot months of the summer that jumps a good 50 pounds (again, thats for a 4 bed house)

i may be mistaken though, someone else chime in

Our aircon last summer hit 260 for a 4 bed house for 2 months and there is only my husband and I living there....no kids!! the water depends where you live. we live in aradippou which has the most expensive rates in Cyprus. also if you have a pool it is more and a sprinkler system for your garden. our phone/fax and internet is about 60 a month but we use our mobiles ALOT! the 'rates' which includes rubbish collection is around 50 it also includes a cemetary plot (only in aradippou!!!)!!! The biggest expense is the electricity.

I have a 4 bedroom house with Pool and garden,

Water Bill: -£25.00 every 2 months in the summer months less in the winter this includes watering the garden.

Water rates: - Cyprus does not do this

Electric - £180.00 every 2 months might be a little more since we had that heatwave and don't forget the deposit you have to put down, (think its £100.00)

Council rates:- well i have a smile on my face, not heard this word in a long time, Cyprus does not do this.

Telephone:- you have to put a deposit down of £100.00 from what i remember, and i think the phone bill is about £40.00 per month

Rubbish Collection: this is a yearly bill around £60.00

Hi Bear

25 pounds for 2 months water is amazingly low, if you have a pool; I was away for 6 days in June and it took me 6 hours to top it up when I returned. I would guess mine runs to well over 100 pounds per quarter in the summer.

Anyone else with a pool want to put some figures up?

My electricity avareages about 100 pounds every 2 months.

Thanks so far for the info , are the water and electricity charges dependant on where you live in Cyprus , because they seem to really
vary we will be based in Larnaca area in a 2 bed apartment so the pool
water will come out of the communal fund. thanks again

If you look at the back of the bills the price per unit increases if you use more. Our electricity is high because of the air con and pump on the pool. We have a balance tank on the pool which tops the pool up but we still have about a 60-70 bill each time.

I thought the law had changed re communal pools and you were only allowed to have them filled if there was an attendant on duty?

One more thing

I forgot to say, in the electric bill you also pay for your TV licence, but no one knows how much this is. (crafty buggers).
