BROADBAND, TV AND TELEPHONE

Postby Cyprus4MeSoon » Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:05 pm

This question has been asked before but I am getting totally confused :?
I am looking for the best package (and cheapest!) for, Broadband Internet, TV and Telephone. I do not understand all the techno talk, all I want is to be able to have Internet access to email family and friends, search the internet for info and to buy online and a bit of music download. Oh and of course come onto this forum  As for the TV I was hoping for something that would pick up some of the english programmes, and phone, well just to speak to people if need be

This question is being asked by myself but also my sister, who moves over to Cyrpus at the end of the month. I believe that for anyone to answer they my need to know the area we are moving to, so,
My sister = Yiolou, Pathos
Me = Parekklisia, Limassol - Hopefully thay are both spelt correctly

I hope that someone is able to help us

I know there are other (better by the sound of things) options out there, but personally I use an all in one Cytanet package. Mainly because it was the first thing I saw, but also because I heard Cytanet (while a bit slow) control the network (like BT did) and were better for business connections (I work as a programmer constantly using VPNs to the UK from home all day).

Anyhows, the all-in-one package seemed convenient because you get web, phone, and TV with one visit. Well I did anyways. And the TV is through the router, so no dish is needed, which is nice. The TV (MiVision) is ok, with Discovery, News, some sport (you get Man U and Chelsea TV surprisingly), and a few "meh" channels. They also just added BBC Prime.

Personally I haven't had hardly any problems with the web (although slow as hell at 1mbps) considering I work all the time on it, and the TV seems ok. Now cannot be bothered getting a new package with a different company as have everything connected upto Cyta (router uses CAT5 network cable through the phone system all round my flat and out into my network switch to supply MiVision amongst other things). Would be interested to hear different packages though, especially if they use a similar system to MiVision (cable or internet based should mean no problem with bad weather unlike dish) and are considerably faster without costing the earth (elsewhere there is a 4mbps package from SpiderNet for £97CYP a month or so!).

Cheers

Thank you Crivens and Paliometoxo for your replies.
I will look further into Cytanet to find out what the package deals are for these three items.

Thanks again.

good luck... but cytanet only offer a 128kb upload on the 1mbit so any half decent connection you need £60a month.. depends on how much b.w you want and need
