Something to think about for sure. Thanks all the same for the info.

If Bir and Zan come along, we can definitely form our own "old timers" unit.

Kikapu seriously would you be able to go to war and firght against greek speaking cypriots, if it came to it. I certainly could not fight against any of you guys on the forum even the ones I do not like.

Brikibrisli, I think it would be fun to catch up with your and kikapu, DT, Get real, T_C (although by the time they let him out he would have probably turned towards hate of the greek speaking cyp's ....... I better watch out ), lena, whom I haven't seen for a while, DA etc. :) :) :) :)

Humanist, hold on one darn minute here.

Who's talking about going to war and killing GC's. We are just talking about playing "weekend soldiers" here.

But since you asked the question, I'll give you a direct answer.

I can only kill in self defence and not for any other reason. If I was told by some commanding officer to attack and kill any GC's, I would not do it. In another words, I will not take part in a "unilateral attack" on anyone. If attacked, I'll defend myself and those around me, but will not make the first move. I will tell the military, that I want to be an "conscientious objector" on any "unilateral attack", as in what the USA did in Iraq. I would have told George Bush to go FUCK himself. I would have ended up in jail, but that would have been better than killing senselessly, or being killed senselessly.

Besides, I don't hate anyone Humanist, not even Zan and VP, and I've had the harshest verbal fight with those two to last me 10 lifetimes. I have never in my life had such fights with anyone, as those two, and all in the last six months. Hopefully we will have a long "quiet period" now, so that we can talk and not fight.

I have a dream. A dream that one day all Cypriots will come together and join hands to be the masters of their own country and future, in unity as Cypriot brothers and sisters.

(I stole the phrase from Martin Luther King)

Kikapu my friend,

Wars are not like that. Nobody orders you to kill. You just serve, and if you refuse to serve the officer can shoot you on the spot. It is extremely rare to fight a battle face to face and forced to kill in self defense.

Take this example:You serve in the rockets units. A group of soldiers "A" are just carrying the rockets with their hands. Another group B sets them. another group C orients them. An officer orders "fire". A group of soldiers D fires them. The rockets go to the sky land somewhere 20-30 km away and they hit or miss a target. They may kill hundreds or no one. Either you are in group A or B or C or D YOU WILL NEVER LEARN if you had killed anyone.

In fact after the war is over you may think you did nothing at war other than carrying rockets with your 2 hands. You are totally unaware if you killed anyone....

What T_C is now doing is just learn to use a rifle. Perhaps he will learn the riffle is just used after the heavy war machinery has won a battle, and infantry soldiers get in for clear up operations. That's when all war attrocities against civilians or surrendered soldiers happen.
The riffles DONT win any battle/war....

Thanks for the explanation Pyro,

It is one of the main reasons why I never joined any military services, be it be in Cyprus, UK, or the USA, because one can kill and not even know about it. If I wanted to see the North before a settlement is reached, it's going to be either pay the money, or play "WEEKEND WORRIOR" for a month or so. I still think the whole Military Service is silly for me at this age, but I think BigOz put his case quite well, regarding the young men who do live in the "TRNC" and cannot get out of it, money or no money, as a payment to not to do their full Military Service. I'm still hoping the "TRNC" will take my advice and cancel the whole thing for those living abroad.

I have a very good friend in San Francisco who served in Vietnam, and the stories he would tell, would put human race in shame. At the time of that war, we had the "draft" in the USA, which meant that young men were required to join the military, unless you knew people and their sons were sent to National Guards or the Coast Guard duties, which were domestic services. So once a soldier finished their "Tour of Duty" in Vietnam, for a year or so, they would then get sent back home for almost the same amount of time before being sent back, if needed, but there were so many young men that were available, most did not needed to go back, except if they volunteered. This friend would tell us, that there were quite a number of soldiers that did 3,4,5 duties voluntarily, because they really enjoyed killing the Viet-Cons, and no doubt civilians also. He would describe these soldiers as Non Humans.
