What Happened to?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

As I'm sure you're aware this is very rare now in any country.

I think it has already been mentioned elsewhere on the thread that if this had happened in the UK then by playing the mental health issue (which is very hard to disprove) then the perpetrator would have probably only got 5 years.

If the murderer does in fact stay in prison for the full 14 years then to be honest I think that it is the best that could be hoped for - whether its right or not is another matter

Richard I have my doubts, as this issue would have triggered a lot more back lash had the convenient "i am mental" card had not been played. The fact that it was a TC child and the brutality and verocity of the crime if not clouded over by the mental health issue would have cause an uprising by TCs on both sides of the divide.

Without being privvy to the thoughts of the Judge and the psychologists VP I dont think anyone can truely say that the person was or was not mentally ill, although he had been sectioned twice and had spent 4 years in prison for drug related offences so it would appear that this is true.

In your previous post you ask the question would this be the norm if the Turkish Troops withdrew(or words to that effect)

Again my personal opinion is that this would probably have happened irrespective of the political situation on the Island as on further reading newspaper reports on the matter it would appear to be a completely unprovoked random attack on a child who was playing with his friends (both GC and TC) and that Salih Mehmet was not a particular pre-meditated target

I thank God that it did not provoke a backlash and also that the police and judge did the right thing

I agree with you on this one without real information made available the convenient mentality card did resolve a backlash but can you imagine th uprising from Gcs if the incident had been the other way around?

VP why dont you just cut your losses and give up. We all know your agenda and we all know your a hate-filled nationalist scum bag like your buddy Zan.

Best thing is to not post on this thread again because your digging yourself into a deeper whole as you go along.

VP

I understand what you are saying but I think we could also say the same about a GC backlash concerning the incident mentioned by DT.

I'm not sitting on the fence here but I just thank God there is enough common sense left on the Island to not start these backlashes. And create more problems for the people on both sides of the divide

hahaha No it was a piece of advice. Your "Are you a Greek Cypriot trying to silence a Turkish Cypriot" posts are so predictable. Another reason why you should just give up because your making a bigger fool out of yourself as you go along.

The only info I could get for this was from Cy mail

If you check archives there for Nov 24-26 2006 it has reports.

It seems an 18 year old was charged by police

The matter was dealt with by the school.

The articles go on to say that the event was condemmed by all parties in Cyprus

haha you cant help yourself can you. What an asshole. Are you trying to make out that all Greek Cypriots have rich daddies and the poor Turkish Cypriots are all living in poverty yeah?

VP have you ever thought about writing scripts for Hollywood films as you are extremely predictable.
