You cannot claim back what you never lost. Any immoveable property that belongs to TCs still belongs to TCs.

The only grey area is that some TC houses are lived in by GC refugees but the property has not changed hands. It still belongs to the TCs, who are free to negotiate a settlement with the present occupiers, if they wish.
Episkopi near Limassol was a Turkish Villge it is now occupied by GCs with many new housing developements in the area, I want to move to Cyprus (the south) but doesn't the same rule apply to both sides; how can I be sure that one day a TC won't come knocking on my door telling me I'm on his land? with title deeds taking up to 10 years in some cases how can you be sure?

Episkopi was in fact a mixed village Southerner, in 1960 the populations were:- TC 1144 and GC 817

Thanks Jerry I stand corrected, who runs Ali's bar these days and are they paying him rent. Ali's bar was a favourite watering hole for service personel from Episkopi garrisson, my main concern is that if I bought a property how safe would I be regarding a TC claiming it was his land?

This whole property fiasco has been going on for far too long now. It needs to stop right now.

People are loosing their life savings, some are ending up living in what would be considered condemned building in Europe because of poor build quality. Those TCs that the land were given to because they had left land or property in the South are selling at prices and earning the kind of money they could only dream of.

I know people who couldn't run a bath let alone a business now living in palace like houses with a dozen top of the range Mercs, BMs, Porsches, Hummers you name it they fucking got it. All this by selling land that dont even belong to him. Its just not fair and a damn right insult to hard working decent TCs.

The government is ultimately to blame for all this. I wouldn't blame the poor Brit who has invested all his life savings for a decent retirement home, most were told the land their house was built on was exchanged with the Greek owner in the South, documents provided by the TRNC confirmed this. I say again blame the government not the poor individuals.

I would also point the finger of blame on the ROC too, they didn't help matters to say the least.

This was what I wanted to know.
Does the same apply in the South of Cyprus, can a TC, at some time in the future claim that the land that I purchased from a GC, if not, how are the rules different?
miltiades, I agree with you on this one, I think Greed has blinded a great many people, there is an old Jewish adage:-

"When you think you will get something for nothing, you usually end up with nothing for something !"..........or :-

"What's cheap IS cheap !"

You are right there Eliko:
As we say "Haydan gelen huya gider, sudan gelen suya gider". Needs no translation. You have got it already. It is greed and nothing else. Misjudgement by the Northern authorities.

Hi Southerner

(Abandoned) TC land is held in trust by a Government department and it is not possible to buy it, so this would not be a problem.

TC properties in the south are only in some cases given to refugees to live in until there is a solution. they do NOT hold title deeds and can not in any way shape or form be sold to anyone, unless done so by their TC rightful owner.

the republic of cyprus has never illegally sold tc land to anyone. there are some scarce cases where fraud took place but both the buyer and seller were caught within days of the exchange.

besides, there arent so many tc properties in the south to begin with
