Merkel calls Greek Cyprus' EU membership mistake
( Cihan ) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the EU membership of Greek Cyprus was a mistake.
Speaking at the German Parliament Merkel said that there was no improvement on Greek Cyprus' state during the presidency of Germany.
The chancellor stressed that there have been no changes in the policies of both Turkey and Greek Cyprus during the negotiations and that this had been a criteria showing that countries with unsolved internal issues should be accepted to the union only after the problems are solved.
Merkel said that negotiations with an 'open end' would continue with Turkey.
On the other hand, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn spoke at a press conference in Berlin and said that progress in negotiations on chapters was as important as the final membership goal for Turkey.
Rehn also said that the union needs to convince Turkey that it was serious about the membership negotiations.

Angelikoulla Merkel, mistake ksi-mistake, Cyprus is now a member of the EU, and is none of your competencies to claim so or determine otherwise, any longer!
Cyprus was unanimously accepted in the EU, by the council, the commission, the parliament and each and every single EU member state’s government and parliament (including that of your own country!) Cyprus is now a member of the EU, digest it and behave, otherwise we may choose not to cooperate so fervently with the policies your government may wish to pass in the EU!
Angelikoulla, we know and sympathise with your secret fantasy to have one night stands with invaders and violators like Turkey, but please behave!
If you all think this is Merkels opinion alone on this issue ,you are very much mistaken.
With the exception of your bosses in Greece the whole of the EU and possibly the rest of the world are aware that your accession into the EU was a BIG MISTAKE.
AlexISS is right, you are just too blind to see exactly where you stand regarding the Cyprob.
Piratis, Sotos, Kifeas and the rest of you listen up, They are onto you, you have been found out and its the end of the road as far as you convincing and fooling people into believing otherwise.
In layman's terms you are FUCKED

Greece favours the resuming of the talks, mrfromng. But there's nothing Greece can do if Papadopoulos doesn't feel like it, and that's why Greece is NOT the boss of Cyprus, while Turkey IS and ALWAYS was the boss of the pseudostate
Kifeas wrote:Alexiss, I suggest you follow developments in Cyprus before you decide to talk, simply because it is not Papadopoulos that refuses to implement the "8th of July" agreement and negotiate, but Talat and his bosses in Turkey!
So that next time you know what you are talking about!

Since I'm tired of replying to "you don't know what you're talking about" posts, I'll simply point you to your original post where you quoted Merkel. That alone proves who's the one taking the blame for not wanting a solution...

You obviously read too many one sided reports from the Turkish and part of the Greek press, otherwise you should have know that it is Talat and Turkey that are backtracking on the "8th of July" agreement, and not Papadopoulos! I suggest you stop reading too much of "To Vima" and "Ta Nea" or "Zaman" and the "Turkish Daily News!" Read a little bit from some more serious newspapers, such as "Kathimerini!
