That does'nt sound very encourageing Raymanuva, have you seen a tourist decline in other parts of Cyprus in the last 10 years or have people changed there preferences as to which parts of the Island they wish to visit and stay? like for instance Arenal in Majorca used to be and English hub 10/15 years ago..........but now its dead with a few Germans and Dutch.

well, people became greedy and a bit spoiled... Cyprus is far not the best holiday destination, is not a unique "meditteranean" paradise...
There is a strong competition from other countries... As far as flights go, the only hope is for charters from tour operators. Cyprus Airways doesn't wanna change and its simply behaves like a spoiled Cypriot. The government and CTO panics since hotels began to convert to holiday flats... i don't blame hotel owners. The government always shifts to opposite direction after every other election... depending on ruling party , previous strategies dismissed etc... speaking of strategies, thanks to current government for stalling water treatment plants expansion based on he fact that it rained 3 years ago. But thats another subject... as far as tourism goes...its Simply fucked. Why cutting Russian tourists by introducing visas etc... its an island, there could be a simple legislation stating that all tho its a part of the EU since its an island, people can only enter and leave this island from Port or Airport...

I was really upset yesterday, had a coffee at Palm Beach last night... there was 1 waiter for a whole lobby and only 6 people on the whole floor... felt like a hotel under renovation during winter time... yet it took me 20 minutes to get her attention to order 2 coffees... she didn't even apologised nor smiled. Wicked service people, way to go...

Cozzys pub which used to be so packed with people, last night saw about 8... casually watching teli.

Tourism is down about 5-6% so it is not tragic but not good. I think people just change places that they go. A place that is very popular one year can be very unpopular next year. This happens often with cafes and pubs.
